There is an old Hollywood expression, “Funny is money,” that explains why comedy stars like Ben Stiller, Adam Sandler, etc., make so much of it. They are usually the most reliable money makers at the box office.

Lionel and I refer to that movie biz cliche in the new Poliwood which segues from the Obama-induced gridlock that teed off so much of Los Angeles — Democrat and Republican — a couple of weeks ago. The President, you may recall, came out here to shake the Hollywood money tree but wound up in the home of a…. writer? Obama – no Clinton he – was unable to land the manse of a Streisand or a Geffen for his fundraiser. Hollywood and Obama really just don’t get along.

And meanwhile, Hollywood is having troubles of its own, financially. Well, maybe not compared to the rest of us.

See and read all about it the new PoliwoodObama’s Hollywood Gridlock. It’s the first of a new and, we hope, better produced season. Let us know what you think (politely?).

Hollywood & Obama don’t get along? Why would that be the case? Is the Hollywood crowd disappointed with the President’s failure to bring home everything on the Progressive grocery list? Is he not radical enough for them? Not sure I get it…

Lionel Chetwynd made a superb observation concerning the extent of Barack Obama’s narcissism. Big name Hollywood stars probably do not impress him! The world is supposed to revolve around Obama. Merely being allowed in his presence should honor us lesser mortals. Obama is a very dangerous man. He is not another Bill Clinton. There will not be a genuine attempt by Obama to reach across the aisle to the Republican victors after the November elections.

I think it is just as likely Obama sees these people in the same light as he sees CEOs, Wall Street types and so on. People you have to get money from to rule, but at the end of the day, corrupt money grubbing power establishment types who must be overthrown come the Revolution. And you know…in this case that is right.

I’m sure it is also the case he can’t stand to have anyone upstage him or even share the stage with him.

I was not indulging in hyperbole when I earlier described Barack Obama as a dangerous man. Those words were written in a calm, deliberate, and sober manner. They were very carefully chosen! This man is not wrapped tight. The narcissistic Obama visited Los Angeles for a major fundraiser. What sane individual would even consider entering the city via the streets during rush hour traffic? Something is very disturbing when a president’s trusted underlings are apparently unable to persuade him to opt for a helicopter. Furthermore, any money collected during this bizarre trip will not even close to balancing out the harm caused to California’s Democrat candidates. We should not forget this event. It serves as a warning that should be heeded.

All that traffic gridlock (on the Westside where it is surely deserved) upset the Funemployment that Teh Won has brought us.

Simon, you and Lionel (a fellow Canadian) are a breath of fresh air–intelligent too!

The new Poliwood? I thought the “old” one was great! (Maybe this seems too polite to be credible, but Poliwood’s an enlightening, amusing, tell it like it is take on an industry we’ve all got a stake in. Your no-stars-in-the-eyes approach and insider knowledge is a valuable foil to Hollywood’s arrogance and decrepitude. Speaking truth to power looks good on you: thanks, guys!)

    > There is an old Hollywood expression, “Funny is money,” that explains why comedy stars like Ben Stiller, Adam Sandler, etc., make so much of it…

That would make sense if Ben Stiller or Adam Sandler was funny. As it is, this statement is just confusing.
