Presidential candidate who would go so far as to say something like this on the eve of an election: “Choosing Nicolas Sarkozy would be a dangerous choice,” Royal told RTL radio. “It is my responsibility today to alert people to the risk of (his) candidature with regards to the violence and brutality that would be unleashed in the country (if he won).”

Possibly she’s right, Roger. Heck, they’re FRENCH, and that’s what the French do: take to the streets. Surely true of the”immigrant youths” in the banlieus as well, maybe the only thing they have in common with the average French. She is, I think, implicitly telling her leftist followers what to do when she loses, pretending to wring her hands while urging on the violence.
The woman is saying “Vote for me or else”. Ain’t it incredible? The first woman president of France could be a nazi.

However, there is an important distinction to be made here. From my buddy, Gormless Norman:
Royal’s warning is similar to Giuliani’s recent warning, insofar as both of them warn the public that if their opponent wins, there will be increased danger from Muslims.
But there is an all-important difference:
Giuliani is warning that, if the Democrats win, they will take a more conciliatory and appeasing posture towards Islamofascism, which will ultimately endanger us.
Royal is warning that, if we don’t take a more conciliatory and appeasing posture towards Islamofascism, we risk making them angry.
This is a Madrid Moment for France. However, I don’t think France will cave. What we have to remember is the riots are precisely the reason Sarkozy’s star has ascended in French politics.

The truth is the lady is saying there will be riots if her apponent wins because the people who have lost the election will take to the city streets of Paris and burn the place down. That is called extortion.
Cheney was not promising that Republicans would start flying planes into buildings.
BTW, have any of the major Democratic contenders come up with any ideas for fighting with AlQaida or are they doing their three monkey thing?

Ironically, as I explain at my blog, any riots could help Sarko push through the reform measures that Sego and her socialist pals (and the banlieu “youths”) object to.
Note also that the Reuters article refers to Sarkozy as a “right-winger” (without the quotation marks).
I don’t think Sarko self-identifies as a right-winger, and I don’t think he *is* a right-winger in any global context, and probably not in a French context.
One more example of transparent bias.
Anyone else notice how law-an-order candidates are always branded “right-wing”? Are the MSM implying that lawlessness and disorder are core left-wing principles?
Two Swiss sites have predicted the outcome of the French election base on exit polls taken as of 5:00 P.M. Paris time. With a record turnout of 75%, they are reporting that Sarkozy has 54% to Royal’s 46%.
