If by his convoluted logic he is saying we should stand down on the war on drugs I’m in (partial) agreement. I live in the state of Washington which most of you already know has just legalized pot – kind of – sort of. There is no way to buy it yet – and you can’t grow it – at least not yet. But if it magically drops into your hand like manna from heaven you won’t be arrested for having less than an ounce. I doubt this legalization will spawn a generation of heroin and cocaine users.
Want to cut down on gun violence? Legalize the “black market” in drugs–excuse the de-facto racism, I’m not black and apparently only whites are racists and do not count as “colored.” Hey, legalize prostitution too, as in Nevada; that would probably reduce some more violence against women, whatever its means of implementation, and thus stopping the restraint in interstate commerce in sex by the other 49 states. I think everyone should have a brothel membership or pay a tax for failure to maintain cardiovascular health and to support state licensed safe sex resorts. How about bringing back dueling to reduce the “murder” rate? Surely consensual killing among adults (eg., drive by shootings in the three percent of those counties that make up 70 percent of the nation’s homicides) should not be treated as murders but as just another active out door life style, like consensual sex between same sex partners at the nude beach? If the government shouldn’t be in your bedroom or private beach it shouldn’t be involved in how you check out for the big sleep. Just think of dueling as mutual suicide by combat. Some how I don’t think any of that will be on babbling Biden’s things to do gun control list. I guess they’re going to try and make up for that Fast and Furious gun control failure and give Homeland Security another impossible mission from the president.
I always like to bring up duelling with libertarians. They tell me I’m talking nonsense. “Oh, that would never happen!” I’m sorry, but I’ve seen too much socially-accepted insanity during my lifetime to ever fall for the line “Oh, that would never happen!”
Does anyone truly doubt that if duelling was legal we wouldn’t get a reality show in short order?
The funny thing about libertarians is their belief that the war on drugs is their trump card; that it totally and unarguably proves they’re right. What it really shows is that a.) in an unregulated market, ruthless criminals rise to the top; b.) people don’t give a DAMN who they buy their products from (and yet libertarians still promise me that if industries police themselves the public will not put up with any shenanigans and any company that does something unethical will go out of business); c.) lbertarians will always try to get you onboard with legalization with the line “tax the hell out of it,” which shows their true colors.
Legal prostitution? Check out the book “Enslaved.” It shows how women and children are tricked into flying halfway around the world for “good jobs” only to be hopelessly trapped in LEGAL brothels. (Or they’re just flat-out abducted.) Legal brothels need product to sell, and they need it cheap. Any “show brothel” (like in Vegas) is just a sham to sell the idea. It doesn’t make the ghastly ones disappear. It creates more of them.
The more I look into “legalize it and the problems disappear” the more I realize what a lie that is. People just want a clean, socially-accepted version of a vice and they couldn’t care less if it’s creating more of the vile, abusive forms of it in the parts of town they don’t frequent.
I actually think most real libertarians would be okay with dueling. I certainly am.
But it’s not like we have prisons full of people for illegally dueling. Well, I guess some people are in there for self-defense, but most of it are drug related. And it server no real purpose. Most of them are not violent, but they violent people get less severe sentences. Molest a kid, you might not even get jail these days. Look at your local sex offender list. Why are they out and people who used drugs and hurt no one but themselves in jail?
I refuse to read this article and can only ask this:
Why in the ever lovin’ hell are you giving this jerk even more publicity?
Is marijuana a gateway drug? I don’t know. Is alcohol a gateway drug? I don’t know that either. We do know that tobacco is highly addictive, perhaps more addictive than heroin and yet we don’t outlaw cigarettes. What I do know is that if somebody wants something, making it illegal has no effect other than to drive up the cost and to insure that there will be violence associated with the provision and procurement of the substance.
I don’t use alcohol or drugs myself and as long as you’re not driving under the influence of either I really don’t care if you spend your life in a drunken/drug induced stupor. I would rather see someone smoking marijuana than doing meth.
The WOD has been an abysmal failure. It’s time to move forward.
It’s been an abyssmal failure the way ALL wars are now abyssmal failures: we don’t fight them like wars anymore.
As for the war on drugs: the problem is corrupt police/government. If we’d had as many traitors during WWII, we wouldn’t have won that either. Cops/agents who cross the line should be publicly hanged.
How is it possible for a major film director to be:
A: that stupid, and:
B: that ignorant.
If this story about the New Jim Crow against blacks via drug laws were a film plot, it’d have enough plot holes to sieve a flock of Jupiter sized planets.
Liberals of course see this utterly moronic logic and drivel as hard reality. I call it a kid who breaks a window and points at the dog and says “He did it.” Mother, being a cruel liberal, puts the dog on bread and water and slaps it and accuses it of racism for good measure.
He’s absolutely correct. Why don’t you read up on how the drug laws were originally passed 100 years ago? Using scare tactics, citing stories of drug maddening minorities attacking whites.
So let’s say that actually means anything, which it doesn’t, but let’s say it does. Black folks can’t stop themselves from possessing or dealing drugs? Or the story runs that white folks do just as much but the cops give them a knowing nod and wink and it’s off they go. So black folks continue to indulge in drugs out of sheer stubborness for the last 40 years because they should only get arrested as much as whites? Like I said, plot holes, and I could list a lot more. The idea is idiotic.
Blacks commits a similar rate of violent crime. What does that have to do with drug laws? Did whites pass laws against violent crime to target blacks? Blacks are helpless. Someone should save them. Maybe you.
Legalize ALL drugs. The problem will solve itself. When they OD and drop dead others will truly be educated by observing the health consequenses of drug use.
Prohibition worked sooo well, didn’t it?
QT is a vile dirtbag. Who cares what he thinks about anything? I don’t. Didn’t read the article, won’t be watching the vid.
