Somebody explain to me: why do so many people in my feed think that gun violence in Chicago proves that guns are nothing to worry about?

Wow, David Frum turned into Fox Butterfield so slowly, I hardly even noticed. (A transformation that seems particularly odd, given that even at the Daily Beastweek, Michael Moynihan and Niall Ferguson manage to stay on the payroll, despite not always toeing Tina’s party line.

Since Davey (“Pants Crease”) Frum’s logic seems to function somewhere roughly south that of Jar-Jar Binks, let’s run through it again for him and maybe he’ll catch on:
A) Chicago is a high gun control area (can’t havey-havey bangy-bangs there)
B) Chicago has a high gun crime rate anyway (baddy-waddys still shooty-shoot freddie-deadie even though not s’posed to havey-havey bangy-bangs there)
∴ (that’s the symbol for “therefore,” for all you Frums out there)
C) Gun control does not stop criminals from committing gun crimes (gun controlly-trolly no worky-worky).
Frum is like those NY pols of the past and the current mayor, who blame Virginia gun laws for their area’s problems. Basically, in David’s mind Chicago’s strict gun laws are immaterial to the current murderpalooza, if the laws are laxer in Texas.
