James Pethokoukis asks, “Are we suffocating entrepreneurs and ‘Start-up America?’”
Well, the spokespeople for GE certainly don’t want to give them any encouragement.
But why would you start a small business in, say, California, when there’s big money to be made in law enforcement — not to mention, doughnut enforcement?
I’m sure though, that the new Democratic supermajority in that once Golden State will begin to reign such profligate spending and overzealous regulation, with precisely as much dedication as America’s equally blue Congress demonstrated from 2006 through 2010.

Why all the hater-ade for regulations? After all, every time a new regulation is printed, an angel gains his or her or (transgendered) wings! Starving puppies in China would die without regulations! Millions of currently gainfully employed no-talented non-entities of no job skills whatsoever would be thrown out of work if they weren’t allowed to create new regulations that brighten our world and make us the nation we are today!
Do you want puppies to die? Do you want higher unemployment? Do you want China to overtake us in the Regulatory Gap? End Hate Speech Against More Regulations Now! Because, in your heart, you know you need regulated!
Speaking of GE, a company I have admired for decades…a friend asked for advice recently on equipment financing. We had worked with a GE Capital office in the area and I tried to reach them about financing. After 8 phones calls to several different offices in several different states, I gave up. No one understood what “equipment loan” meant.
They have apparently shut down their financing for small business. This astonishing to me, but tells you what Immelt really thinks of O’Bozo’s economy.
