Rice Bombs in Meeting with Senators
As PJM’s Bridget Johnson reports, President Obama’s dice-rolling attempt to clear the path for Susan Rice to succeed Hillary Clinton appears to have bombed. Ms. Rice, the president’s ambassador to the UN, called for a meeting with three of her most vocal Republican critics — Senators John McCain (AZ), Lindsey Graham (SC) and Kelly Ayotte (NH). The senators obliged her this morning and, evidently, came away from the meeting more troubled than ever.
The problem ought to be obvious: Rice cannot possibly have a good explanation for the preposterous story she was dispatched by the president to tell the country on the Sunday shows after the Benghazi atrocity in which Islamist terrorists killed four Americans.
The administration’s problem is reminiscent of the shoddy defense lawyer who is so taken in by his own spin that he can’t understand why others see right through it — a problem that the president’s adoring media exacerbates by not challenging him. We have our disagreements here at Ordered Liberty with Senators McCain and Graham, but neither they nor Sen. Ayotte are babes in the Washington woods, particularly on matters of national security and intelligence. Unless they were just dying to be won over by Ms. Rice (thankfully, they were not), they knew exactly what questions to ask — questions for which there are no good answers.
The administration’s line, parroted by everyone from Obama on down, is that Rice’s abysmal performance on the Sunday show came about because she, automaton-like, merely relayed what the intelligence community told her. This has always been absurd on its face and is especially unbecoming for an official who is asking to be promoted to even greater responsibilities.
The intelligence community, particularly the CIA, knew that the Benghazi operation was a terrorist attack while it was happening. The White House, including the president, no doubt, was also aware of the fact that a terrorist attack was underway. The State Department, of which Rice is a high ranking official, is not an outlier — it is actually part of the intelligence community, with a division called the “Bureau of Intelligence and Research” that is an intelligence agency and has access to all intel relevant to U.S. foreign policy. The players here were not in the dark, and if they had been they had the means to be brought up to speed quickly.
There is no sugar-coating this: the administration lied to to country about what happened. The massacre was a foreseeable result of Obama’s policy of empowering Islamists. Moreover, the massacre cut against the Obama campaign narrative that killing bin Laden had effectively destroyed al-Qaeda. The Mohammed movie was blamed in order to divert attention from those facts as the administration played out the clock until election day. Rice, an ambitious Obama loyalist, was sent out to convey the misleading version of events and dutifully complied.
Straightforward.
More: Poll: Majority Thinks No One In the White House Intended to Mislead on Benghazi

With an electorate that would probably vote 40% that the Moon is made of green cheese, we have a major problem. The rest of us can complain, but our written complaints are mostly irrelevant. OTOH: if you are willing to fight… That is probably what it will take.
Bingo!
Good and competent government can only be achieved through an informed electorate. The largest voting bloc in this country are the politically ignorant. Although I know it would be impossible to achieve, I’d like to see a national voter’s ID that would have to be presented in order to vote in any governmental election. It would only be issued to those who pass the same test required of those seeking to become naturalized citizens.
We must restore the rule of law!
When will the Chicago Sun Times get their copies of the Blagojevich tapes and transcripts?

Not 40%. Actually, 47%. Soon to be 51%. Like little Oliver, America has become a nation of permanent adolescents who ask “Please Sir, may I have more?” And Obama says, Sure son, you can have more. You don’t have to pay a dime. Just your vote.
Tool. ’nuff said about Ms. Rice.
Tommy, the muck is so high, even a gravedigger couldn’t pry them loose of their lies.
And it is not as if it had to be this way, but when one lies from the onset, and piles more of the same atop, this is the result.
Rice is between a rock and a hard place, but it remains to be seen, whether or not the POTUS still rams her through as Sec of State.

But if America was still a country of laws, The Liar-in-Chief (plus his gang of helpers, chiefly Hill, Huma Abedin, Samantha Powers etc) would be headed to jail cells!
If only we could get someone with enough back bone to say it, exactly like you did.
The Obummer admin is simply using Ms. Rice as long as possible as a smoke screen to the real question – who sat idly by and ordered that no help be given to those in peril in Benghazi? I suspect we all know the answer to that – and I suspect he’ll never be impeached for his feckless inaction.
The Republican party has become such a bunch of gutless wonders I’m not sure I can ever pull the lever for one again. They are no better than the left.

I’d like you to call me a pansy to my face. But then that would be expecting too much in the way of honesty and bravery from a coward.
You are correct in all regards.
It doesn’t matter. The American sheeple who elected our “leaders” no longer have the attention span or intelectual capacity to analyze an issue focused on national security.
Maybe they will wake up when their wives, mothers, and girlfriends are forced to wear a hajib and they have to go to the mosque 5 times a day.
Then again probably not, they’ll just submit.
I get a big kick out of the newest lie told by the White House about this. Now they are actually saying that they didn’t mention al Qaeda on purpose right after the attack because they didn’t want to “tip-off” al Qaeda that we knew it was them! Stunning. That’s like saying we didn’t want to mention Japan on 8 December 1941 after they attacked us the previous day at Pearl Harbor because we didn’t want to tip the Japanese off that America was attacked by them! What nonsense. Evidently, EVERYBODY in Washington knew it was a terrorist attack, from the State Department to the CIA to the FBI, yet Rice didn’t seem to get the memo about it.
The White House lied to cover up the fact that not only was al Qaeda alive and well, but also that their “light footprint” strategy in Libya was a dismal failure. This certainly would not have looked good a few weeks before the election and right after Obama and Biden et al. stated at the Democratic convention that bin Laden was dead and al Qaeda was all but finished.
And we still have four dead Americans that the Obama administration need to be held accountable for. And they will.
Let’s check the tape.
“Light footprint”: Used by the Obama admin in Libya. Led to successful overthrow of the dictator Qadaffi, a man who had personally funded/ordered a terrorist attack on Americans. Cost in US blood: 4 lives. Cost in US treasure: ~$1B.
“Heavy footprint”: Used by the Bush admin in Iraq. Led to successful overthrow of the dictator Saddam Hussein, a man who had not been involved in any terrorist actions towards Americans. Cost in US blood: ~4.5k dead soldiers, hundreds of dead contractors, and tens of thousands of serious, permanent injuries. Cost in US treasure: $1T and counting, perhaps up to $3T in total long-term liabilities.
Let’s have a little more “light footprint” please!
The overthrow of Khadafy came at a time when it served no useful purpose: Khadafy not only had been behaving, more or less, but had been acting as a stabilizer in the region against the Islamists and was feeding intel to the US. Overthrowing him handed Libya over to turmoil, and to the Muslim Brotherhood. That “light footprint,” over and above the cost in American lives this year, was a complete disaster.
The overthrow of Saddam Hussein was voted for by the US Congress—unlike the overthrow of Khadafy, which Obama did unilaterally in violation of the War Powers Act. Overthrowing Saddam Hussein ended, for a while, a terrorist haven; Hussein had been sheltering and bankrolling terrorists, and Iraq’s acting as a magnet for al Qaeda enabled the US military to kill off a bunch of them. Further, had Bush had the strength to stand up for himself under the onslaught of our domestic Left, the American presence in Iraq and in Afghanistan could have served—should have served—as a pincer for our troops to go into Iran, which has been at war with us for over 30 years, and render its nuclear program nonexistent. Instead, alas, Bush bowed to the Left, and that opportunity was missed.
Keep rolling the tape. Ghaddafy ended his WMD program after the US took out Saddam Hussein.Tens of thousands of foreign jihadist fighters went to Iraq after the invasion and were turned into garden mulch. There aren’t any jihadists training in Iraq now, but there are plenty in the soft footprint land of Libya, and nobody’s doing much about it. No American amabssador was murdered during the period from 1980-2012.
Saddam Hussein attempted to procure the assassination of GHWB. He ran terrorist training camps at Salman Pak and harbored terrorists including the 1993 WTC bomber. He had 12 years to comply with the terms of the ceasefire. If he had been left in power he would today be developing nuclear weapons.
Wow. You all can justify thousands of dead Americans and 1/4 of our GDP in debt with incredible ease – when they are the direct result of the decisions of someone you voted for.
But when a terrorist attack kills 4 Americans on the watch of someone you voted against? Impeach him!!
My apologies Sen. McCain, “Country First” just doesn’t have a place in your party anymore.
You Lefties don’t give a shit about GDP, or you’d be yelling bloody murder about Obama’s crazed, unbudgeted deficit spending, his destructive energy policies, his crony “green energy” giveaways, and the ton of regulations he’s crippled the economy with.
But if you had cared about GDP, you would have backed the war effort that even your Lefty representatives voted for, instead of impeding it so that it took three times as long and cost four times as much as it should have.
You also don’t give a shit about the troops, except as a statistic to whine about. The question is not how many were killed, but how many of the enemy did they kill in the process. Not one lousy proggie news outlet ever interrupted its faux-solemn intoning of “grim milestones” to discuss the nature of objectives, the achievement of them, or the number of enemy engaged and destroyed. And, for that matter, the reason the four Americans murdered in Benghazi are an issue when the lost troops aren’t is that the troops were armed and had backup—instead of being hung out to dry, abandoned, and slaughtered by an Administration more concerned with political advantage and talking points than with taking care of its own.
“The question is not how many were killed, but how many of the enemy did they kill in the process.”
We’ve drilled down to the essence. We’ve found the problem. And it’s the culture, it’s the video-gameification of foreign policy. It’s the acceptance of death as long as it’s wrapped in a flag and hidden from sight.
You sound indistinguishable my son talking about his Call of Duty “killcount” with his friends.
Pray tell, what’s today’s exchange rate of dead American soldiers to dead guys with funny names in foreign countries?
I can just imagine you totting up “the exchange rate exchange rate of dead American soldiers to dead guys with funny names in foreign countries” during the battle of Iwo Jima, had you been alive back then—and deciding to cave when an arbitrary number had been reached. You probably would have been advocating that we engage in “proportional response,” and stopped fighting the Japanese as soon as we’d confirmed as many Japanese dead as the number of Americans killed at Pearl Harbor.
Nor would I be surprised if you’re one of those people who believes that it would have been “better”—more morally pure, or something—for a million-plus people to die in “honest” hand to hand combat during the invasion of the Japanese home islands than it was to drop the bombs on them.
You can babble about video games all you want to, but the nature of war is that you kill the enemy; you kill more of them than he kills of you; and some of your people get killed in the process.
“The question is not how many were killed, but how many of the enemy did they kill in the process.”
So you can imagine me at Iwo Jima, eh? Well, I can imagine you behind your xbox controller killing german computer characters and pretending it means something.
But you know what I don’t have to imagine? Your casual disregard for the lives of your fellow Americans. I don’t have to imagine that you count X dead Muslims as a fair price for the dead Marine from down the street. I don’t have to imagine that, because you said it yourself. I don’t have to imagine that you calculate your patriotism by the number of bodies our young men lay low when we send them abroad. I don’t have to imagine that you discount our fallen because “the question is not how many were killed…”
I don’t have to imagine any of that. But I wish I did have to.
No, I can’t imagine you at Iwo Jima; I can imagine you writing puling letters about “proportionality” to the local paper after watching the Saturday afternoon newsreel.
Your “concern for the lives of Americans” is empty moral posturing—even more than the empty moral posturing above in which you reveal that you care more, to the extent you actually care at all, for the lives of “dead guys with funny names in foreign countries.” The Left doesn’t give a shit about American lives or American troops—or it would have supported the war that it initially voted for in order for it to be prosecuted intelligently, at the least cost in lives and treasure. Instead, it voted for the war out of cowardice, to appear patriotic, and then devoted itself to undermining the war to appear “concerned about lives,” foreign as well as American. In reality, it is concerned about neither.
Oh yes, four dead in Benghazi is not near as important as who outed Valerie Plame, and who waved their genitalia in the faces of Iraqi insurgents at Abu Graib, and did George Bush miss two weeks of National Guard duty 35 years before?
Don’t even start to lecture about what’s important and what’s not. It’s obvious that what’s important to Democrats is whatever helps Democrats. There isn’t and hasn’t been any concern about the nation as a whole by Democrats for years, it’s all about the party.
At least Republicans would like to see the US not fall into second world status, just as the Democrats seem to not give a s*** about it. As long as they’re in charge and getting votes, that’s all that matters.
Congratulations,
That is without a doubt the most cursory and shallow analysis of an international relations incident involving our country I have yet read. Your ability to compare and contrast is breathtakingly inept.
Let me help you out. If Obumbles and his Sec of State had been awake a proper security force would have been protecting the consulate in Benghazi. The force would have been either assembled out of former special forces soldiers in a State Department security detail or would have consisted of Marines specially trained in embassy security. In any event they would have made short work of either killing the Al Queda elements that attacked or causing them to break off their attack and withdraw. The only reason that this scenario did not occur is due to the incompetence of the leadership in Washington who repeatedly rejected requests for more security. Due exclusively to the incompetence of Obama and his piano legged Sec of State, proper security was not provided and 4 American diplomats were murdered.
That you somehow equate this fiasco as being in some bizare way equivalent with the events in Iraq demonstrates that your feeble analytical skills are about on par with the voters who reelected our current crop of leaders on November 6th.
Why don’t you see if you can find an intellectual group you might be more comfortable having a converstion with. My recomendation would be the dementia ward at your local retirement community or the faculty lounge at any nearby liberal arts college.
That FDR was such a dumb blabber-mouth tipping off the Japs like that. It’s so wonderful that we have such an intelligent and cool headed President now.
Imagine if Obama was at Normandy …. Oh crap, everybody back in the ‘boats’, don’t tip off the Germans we’re here!
Patience and prayer….remember that Watergate problems took almost two years to fully play out and that was with the leftists screaming constantly and loudly for Nixon’s head on a platter….
And no one died in Watergate…”Nixon lied and no one died”
This will have its day in court as well…stand fast.
Are you sure? I’m not.
Hope you’re right, bud. Then again we’ve seen what happens to the rationale of the country when they get Obama fever. And half the country has it bad. I wonder if the GOP will have the pull they need to keep it on the front page.
tldr; Obama’s been able to control the media like silly puppets. And most people believe the media.
I’m not quite sure how to phrase this question Andrew (or anyone else for that matter). I’m a former Democrat who is now a full-fledged Neo-Con loyal Republican / Conservative. Part of my “conversion” was 9/11 — another part was the realization that antisemitism was coming in a disproportionate and large way from the Left (and not necessarily the “far Left” either).
Let me also say that I have a gut-level distaste for Ms. Rice — I can’t quite put my finger on it frankly.
Because of this, I cringe at the thought of her becoming Secretary of State. I’d actually far prefer Senator Kerry (as a lesser of the evils) — especially because to a large extent he is a *known* evil — whereas Rice is an unknown and potentially horrendous evil — especially if she’s *anything* like Obama crowd, et al.)
So that being said, I would appreciate a better understanding of the current criticism of her with respect to Benghazi. Your article above gave me, thus far the best dose of what I’ve been looking for lately to this end. It explained that as a member of the State Department (that most insidious of organizations — pardon me) she *could* have known more / learned more had she bothered to look.
Is that the basic criticism? I’m truly ignorant here — this is not meant as a “gotcha” question. Please treat me & question with kid gloves.
Is it the case that you, and all of “us,” are saying that any “reasonably competent” UN Ambassador — any reasonably competent higher level member of a president’s team (and now, I guess a cabinet level member, right?) *should* have made further inquires before throwing her full weight — the full weight of her “good name” and position (as it were) behind the particular set of talking points handed to her? Is that basically it?
In other words, had she been George Schultz (a hero of mine) — in whatever position he was in prior to Sec of State, he would have (this would be the argument) “investigated further” perhaps before he threw his good name behind a particular — and seemingly simplistic and banal — explanation of the Benghazi story (especially since it involved the death of an ambassador)
Is that basically the rap on her? Look, I don’t trust the woman as far as I can… well spit I guess. I’m simply trying to “sum up” the current thrust of our argument against her.
It would seem that Obama is grooming her to be Sec of State — I don’t think he was ever serious about Kerry — I think he wanted Rice all along for whatever reasons. My understanding is that her career has taken a meteoric rise since his presidency. G-d only knows the reasons behind that (and I won’t speculate as much as I may be tempted).
Thanks to any and all in advance,
– FF
Don’t you realize you’re a racist woman hater? Well, that’s the lib explanation of why you don’t like Ms. Rice.
If you are a “neo-con”, you are NOT a conservative.
The question boils down to one word – ‘competence’. We need a person with the intelligence and courage to pursue the truth in any given situation; with the drive to serve this country, its laws and its people above all else; and with the moral fortitude to abide by the oath of office. By definition, any O’Bama nominee does not qualify, as they are expected to maintain his image and defend his backside regardless of the real-life consequences of his administration’s actions (or egregious lack thereof). One look at O’Bama’s cabinet reveals that mendacity and sycophancy are the most valued attributes in prospective Secretaries. Examination of past and present nominees – Holder immediately leaps to mind – leads one to suspect that anyone O’Bama wants is a bad pick for our country.
Four more years… of tears…
FF, to answer your question “why the rap on her?”, your synopsis is correct. Two Sundays after the attack on the Benghazi compound, Ms. Rice went on all 5 of the major (Meet the Press, FNS, etc.) and insisted that the motivation for the attack was the video. Given what has been revealed since then, she either (1) knowingly mislead the American people or (2) unknowingly provided false information. If the former is the case, she lied to us. If the latter is the case, she was a rube and doesn’t have the chops to be our next Sec. of State.
The left is claiming that opposition to her is purely racist and/or sexist. Their main support for this claim is based on the questions regarding Ms. Rice’s competence to hold the position. To which I contend that if she wasn’t lying to us, then she surely should have known (as the #2 U.S. diplomat) that it was a terrorist attack since everyone else seems to have known (POTUS, VPOTUS, SoS, CIA Director, NIA director, etc.). If she didn’t, what does that say about her competence to be the next SoS?
you may be interested in some of the WSJ articles lately. there are a couple that explain issues beyond Benghazi, going back to her handling of the ambassador position and some major faults in her dealings with the UN. Susan Rice was Susan Rice way before Benghazi. It shows.
Andrew, what I cannot understand is how simply saying, “It was a terrorist attack,” would somehow reveal the identity of a source or some arcane method of bagging information?
So this business of saying they were protecting sources and methods does not seem kosher, to me.
To admit it WAS a terrorist attack would have been ugly for the White House and the re-election effort for Obama. He told us all was well, we were loved in the middle east, the boogeymen were gone. And it was Bush’s fault.
Your points are well-taken, Mr. McCarthy. Another point is it is not just four dead Americans and that the Administration lied to us. What gets lost in this to a significant degree is there were ONLY 4 dead – it could have been MUCH WORSE because there was something like 34 or 35 other people at the Annex – as I recall, some of those at least came from the Consulate. If the two former SEALS had not fought so hard, the other 35 – some injured – would not have lived. Where are they and what have they to say?
Rice bombed. So what? Nothing will come of it. She and her boss will get away with their lies. They have a ‘D’ after their names.
In addition, Rice will most likely be confirmed as Secretary of State. Unless McCain or Graham is willing to put a hold on Rice’s nomination and prevent it from ever reaching the floor, she would probably get sixty votes.
I have a feeling that BO is going to become another Rollo Tomassi, the “guy who got away with it” as the character Guy Pearce played called the murderer of his father in “LA Confidential.”
Susan Rice is either a pathological liar or a low grade moron as no one with a brain and a clue in the area of world affairs would ever have accepted the claim that it was all just a got a little too wild demonstration by Muslims with hurt feeling over some obscure video even if that’s what someone told her. If someone told me that 2 plus 2 was 25, I wouldn’t go out in public and repeat it.
“Rice Bombs in Meeting with Senators” – The further adventures of Insane-Hussein Obama and moron liar Susan Slippery Rice.
Very few ambitious people have the integrity/stones to contradict their boss. Susan Rice is valuable to Obama precisely because she has demonstrated such a talent for playing Mortimer Snerd to the powerful over the entire course of her career, including the Rwanda genocide. She sits on their laps and they cause the dummy to speak.
I do agree with Obama on one point. Rice is a cipher. That is the essence of her value. Is is worthless to waste fire on the dummy. Congress may think they can get to Obama by pressuring his underlings but his arrogance,(and the stupidity of the electorate), seems to have insulated them as well as himself. This situation can only break open if there are enough people in the military and intelligence establishments who refuse to be castrated.
“This situation can only break open if there are enough people in the military and intelligence establishments who refuse to be castrated.”
Well, I think that leaves out all our generals and probably most colonels.
Sad, but true. I read an article recently where our AF General in charge of the Pacific Command stood in front of a slide of one of the Spratley Islands and said,”no, we won’t go to war over a piece of rock like this.”
It took 16 hours for Obama to make the decision to capture Osama. He slept on it, while Seal Team Six waited. I believe he gave the order to stand down and not send in forces in Benghazi, but we will never know because all the people around him will spin, misinform and lie to protect him. Why you ask? Would you want to be the informant responsible for the bringing down of the first black President? This is not like Watergate and there will be no mysterious ‘DeepThroat”. They are all scared and will close ranks around him to protect themselves and the press will aid them. There is no one in the House or Senate that will take on Obama in this matter. This obsession of race over reason has crippled the country and has the potential of ruining the republic. What hope is there if finding the truth when no one what’s it to be found because it would prove to be unpopular and could lead to civil unrest. The Left is prepared to do whatever it takes to win, the end justifies the means. To them, there are no consequences, only conquests and the rules are made by the Rulers.
What is really astounding is the fact that we have yet to talk to Mrs. Hillary Clinton about what she knew. Why was Rice there to begin with, being the little obama parrot that she is, while Hillary was in charge of the State Department yet is flying here, there and everywhere? That woman must be placed under oath pronto and let the questioning begin. Starting with why there was no security to speak of in a terrorist sh_t hole like Benghazi when the Brits and the Red Cross had already pulled out way in advance because it was way too dangerous there. My oh my, we should have a list of questions several feet long.
Interesting perspective back in October from Michael Reagan. The questions that should be asked, are probably classified, to hide the gunrunning aspect of the whole operation.
http://www.americanthinker.com/2012/10/building_on_a_kernel_of_truth.html
Susan Rice was chosen for the role based first on the colour of her skin, followed by gender and her willingness to internalise the Obama administrations cool aid and regurgitate it on demand.
That she is an empty suit and or Goebbels/Alinsky agitprop propagandist unable to reason her way out of a paper bag should not come as a surprise to anyone. After all birds of a feather flock together.
America’s enemy’s are overjoyed at the Obama administrations re-election and will play Miss Rice like a cheap fiddle whilst sliding the dagger into her back.
America in decline… change your getting…
Rice did not bomb as far as her boss is concerned. She just stuck to the rules of his White House: if it is. A legislative or policy matter, I’ll brush it off with cliches or do an end run; if it is something embarrassing but peripheral, like Sound and Fury, we’ll just set up an investing committee and drag our feet util something else obscures it, if it is a security issue, we’ll stall, set up several investigative committees to work at cross-purposes, and stick to my script regardless of any apparent absurdity.
Get used to it. Euphoric in what they view as mandate, they have no obligation to explain anything to the electorate, certainly to defend themselves. Secure in the assurance that the servile media will either not bother to report the matter at all or vigorously cover for them, they are free to ignore criticism from those who will never vote for them.
Thanks to a feeble and gutless GOP we now are living with a Socialist Administration that does not consider itself accountable to its citizenry. Lots of luck with your suggestions to the RNC.
Apparently the USURPER is in constant contact with Morsi the Theocratic DICTATOR of Egypt getting tips on how to seize power or licking his *ss in slobbering congratulations.
So what Rice and the Serial Lying USURPER and his Regime now want you to believe is that Rice was fully aware that the cause of the deaths of 4 Americans was still under process of being ascertained and had not yet been determined.
OK moonbats and USURPER apologists lets go with that EXCUSE, so now tell us why she said ‘Its the video’ not ‘we are still looking in to it and will advise when we are sure’. Surely that is what any TRUTHFUL and TRUSTWORTHY administration spokesperson would say.
Rice is one of two things 1) a LYING Party lackey -or- 2) Totally INCOMPETENT. Either way she is completely unfit to be Secretary of State.
It’s really very simple
Obama (And Crew) don’t want to wake up the country
There is a saying * The Sleeping Giant *
If they can say – It’s a Video !
Or – It’s a bunch of peaceful protesters , that got mad
THEN
The Sleeping Giant – Stays Sleeping and noes not get up and sweep Obama (And Crew) out of office
So
They will Lie and Delete the Truth on *Every Single Issue*
That’s just the way it is
Occam’s (sp?) Razor has never been more applicable than it is to Benghazi. The simplest explanation is that Obama ordered Rice to lie to help his re-election campaign. It is also the true explanation. Indeed it is the only explanation that makes ANY sense.
Hillary is no prize either by going along with the Obama talking points and ranting about that stupid video in front of the victims families when their loved ones arrived in the U.S..
Where was O during the seven hours of the attack in Benghazi, and why can’t any of our Senators find the spine to ask that? Why is the GOP so afraid of the media?
What dancing school do both houses of Congress go to in order to get so good at side stepping any and everything? Do they have recitals that are open to the public…….wait, I forgot about C SPAN.
Obama was getting his “beauty rest” to make sure he looked good when he met Beyonce and went on Letterman the next day.
The problem is indeed obvious: the Republicans are disingenuous concern trolls.
Rice is just another lackey that repeats any bilge fed to her and marches in lock step with the leftist ideology permeating our current foreign policy. She has shown incompetence or downright dishonesty during this whole affair. Some of the crazy crap she spewed before being confirmed for her present job made me instantly distrust her and hope she would never have any real power to direct policy in the interational arena. The one thing than can be counted on is that when the heat gets too hot on higher-ups, SR will be dutifully thrown under the bus. Unless somebody can find a way to defuse this michegas, Rice can kiss S of S goodbye. Though with our media, there is always the chance this becomes a Don Imus story and she skates by somehow on a manufactured racial or gender issue. Hope the Republican senators aren’t stupid, or cowardly, enough to allow their very valid criticisms to be used in such a fashion.
My biggest grip with the Benghazi story is that it shows the left’s complete disregard for the traditions of our constitutional order. By blaming the incident on that video produced by an American, the issue of free speech came into play. How flippant some of these purveyors of liberal tripe were in denouncing the man behind the video. In doing so, there was an implicit assertion that, somehow, the right of an American citizen to say or produce something that might injure the feelings or socio-religious precepts of foreign citizens should be questioned. In other words, that in certain circumstances, Americans are not free to speak if it hurts feelings of people on the other side of the world, especially Islamists. And all of it apparently motivated by cheap political advantage. The only comfort one can take from that is at least it was just amoral political thinking behind the lies. The worst scenario would be if the purveyors of this obscenity really believed in the limiting of free speech rights of Americans as above described.
If all Rice did was parrot what she was told, that alone would disqualify her from the the Sec State position. We need some one at State who can actually think for themselves and question what the “intelligence” community is telling her. If Rice can not do that then she doesn’t belong as Sec State.
I think Obama and friends are covering up more than policy failures. I think they are also covering up extreme negligence in their immediate reaction to the event. The Obama administration did not support those people at all. The attack went on for 7 hours. Fighter jets were an hour and a half away in Italy. They could have been sent to circle the area in case they were needed, even if the intelligence situation was unclear. There was a terrorist response team in Italy about 2.5 hours away. Why didn’t they take off and get closer so they could be used if needed? Benghazi is a port city. There were two Navy ships nearby. Why didn’t they move to help? By the way, I think the intelligence situation was clear enough considering there was a drone with a camera over Benghazi streaming live pictures for 6 of the 7 hours. Also, the State Department was getting emails in real time. I think that pictures from the cameras at the consulate were also available. Does anyone believe none of the people in Benghazi had a satellite phone? Maybe they didn’t have the number to call? As a Viet Nam Era vet, I find my credulity being strained to the breaking point by all of the BS being put out by Obama defenders. Unfortunately, as an old white man, my opinion can be discounted as racism. I will be judged by the color of my skin, not the content of my character.
Couldn’t be that Republicans, who can swallo9w a camel but strain at at a gnat. are doing this to try to get Obama to nominate Kerry so Republicans get a chance to elect a senator.
Naw, from some of the above comments, I can tell you, der reader, are probably rational.
Recall that it was Republicans who cut the State Department allocation for securityh.
so you’re saying Benghazi happened because Obama was short on cash to defend the place…
sound like normal Obama reasoning. whatever it takes to demand more money. wish he would have picked up a job at Bain, where profit actually matters. he might have learned a thing or two.
The Democrats policies that have reduced the Black Race to welfare bondage, with a high crime rate, anti-education, high school drop out rate, high breeding rate, high gang joining rate, high homicide rate, etc. and the most dependable Democrat voters is not a accident!
The Illegal Hispanic,s that Democrats love so much, share and exceed many if not most of the worse characteristics as the blacks, in other words they have the prefect profile for a Welfare Democrat voter!
Normal people thinks no one would be diabolic and sick enough to purposely use policies to reduce the Nation and its population to a state of Poverty, Crime, Misery and Corruption, but you would be wrong!
That is exactly the Democrat plan for this Nation!
The more Democrats can decrease Education achievement,, Reasoning ability and increase the Liberal idealogy, Poverty, Welfare and the Entitlement mentality the more Democrat voters they make and the closer they get to a Third World Socialist Food Stamp Paradise controlled Lock, Stock and Barrel by the Democrat party!
The last piece to achieve their goals is nearly in place. Amnesty for the 12 to 30 million criminals and uneducated invading Illegal Aliens. That with chain Immigration for the ones still left in Mexico and Latin American and with a Prolific breeding rate will assure a Democrat majority forever and a Third World Slum here of Crime, Corruption, Poverty and Misery modeled on Mexico and controlled by the Socialist/Democrat party of Northern Mexico!
It is all about Power, Control and the Democrat party and how to use lies, false compassion and the people,s tax money, to achieve their Sick and Treasonous goals!
