My Golden Apple
Thought you might like to see the Golden Apple that arrived yesterday — my prize for winning the Iowa Teen Reader Award. Iowa teen readers voted my novel The Last Thing I Remember their favorite. I put the apple on my mantlepiece between my new novel Crazy Dangerous and the new issue of City Journal which contains an article I wrote about my favorite joke. Hit the links and buy everything. I mean it. Do it right now.
One kind of interesting thing about this golden apple is if you look closely you’ll see it actually contains a reflection of me. I thought that was cool. My wife says the reflection is not there all the time, but it’s been there every time I looked so I think she is just messing with my head hoping to drive me insane so that I’ll let her use the remote.

Hey Klavan- nice fish-eye of your comfy-looking living room through that golden apple thingy.
Give me a first sentence like “See that dead guy by the side of the road?” and I’m hooked. I want to buy Crazy Dangerous but I’m in Greece and I don’t see it available in Kindle. How about naming your price and emailing me an electronic copy? Yeah, ok, it’s not legal, but I thought I’d ask.
I met you briefly at a writer’s conference in Oct. ’07, which is just before you bit the bullet and came out as a hardcore righty. I’ve read just about every word you’ve written since, and a lot of what you wrote before as well. I’m sure there are a lot of people just like me who are hungry for creative artists who share our worldview. Keep up the good work.
Just ordered “Crazy Dangerous” from Amazon. Have read almost all your works and love them. Gave a copy of “TLTIR” to my next door neighbor’s eleven year old as well. Keep up the great work. Also – when can we expect a sequel to “The Uncanny”? Love that.
Careful, dude…
Narcissus had his pool.
The Golden Apple could have “Snow White” elements…
No, it means he must choose between Juno and wealth, Minerva and fame, and Venus and beauty. Knowing our respected Mr. Klavan, he’ll toss it to Vesta and opt for domesticity…
Vesta is good.
But there’s that whole “poison apple” temptation thingy, going back to Eden…
And he is showing signs of wanting a bite…
