Abel Tesfaye goes by the show name “The Weeknd.” He was recently labeled “the king of sex pop” by GQ in a profile for which he was interviewed. Asked about marriage, Tesfaye offered a puzzling view:

…while he thinks he wants to have kids, marriage he’s not so sure about.

“I feel like I’m the kind of guy that would have kids before getting married,” he says. “The first thing would be kids. Marriage is scary to me, man.”

He pivots from there to talk about how music turns him on. This is sexy, we’re told.

Obviously, women exist who find this kind of thing attractive. Tesfaye has no apparent trouble finding a girlfriend. In a rational world, he would.

Why would a woman want to have kids, or risk having kids, with a man terrified by commitment? Alongside that, why would a man who is afraid of commitment want to have children? There’s no return policy on kids.
