Because we live in an age without shame, disgraced former FBI agent Peter Strzok has filed suit to get his job back — including back pay for the time he wasn’t hard at work protecting America from a free and fair election.
In his suit filed today against the Department of Justice and the FBI, Strzok claims his old job should be his again because his firing was “the result of unrelenting pressure from President Trump and his political allies in Congress and the media.”
ABC News reports that the suit alleges that “the FBI and DOJ unlawfully disclosed his private text messages.” Here’s a sample:

“LP” stands for Lisa Page, the FBI lawyer with whom Strzok was having an affair during their investigation of Russian “meddling” in the 2016 election.
Strzok didn’t just personally insult his ultimate boss after the election, but the former FBI agent’s texts to Page included a promise to “stop” Trump from getting elected in the first place. Not that there’s anything wrong with that… except of course for the complete illegality of a federal officer conspiring to rig an election.
The lawsuit also claims that the DOJ’s release of those texts was “deliberate and unlawful,” which would be a violation of the Privacy Act. Then again, Strzok was carrying on his completely innocent extramarital affair and promises to rig the election on his FBI-issued work phone. I’m not sure the legal expectation of privacy is quite as strong when you’re using public property to conduct your most personal communications on government time.
But wait, as the TV announcer says, there’s more. Judicial Watch reported in June: “Strzok-Page Emails Reveal FBI Efforts to Muddle Comey Testimony on Clinton Emails; FBI-Media Collusion.”

In an email thread starting at 6:34 a.m. on May 9, 2017, with the subject line “Comey’s Testimony on Huma Abedin Forwarding Emails Was Inaccurate – ProPublica” nearly a dozen top FBI officials scrambled to draft a letter to Congress about Comey’s May 3 Senate testimony.
This email thread was concerned with a May 8, 2017, ProPublica report stating that, “Comey’s most surprising revelation was that Huma Abedin — [Anthony] Weiner’s wife and a top Clinton deputy — had made ’a regular practice’ of forwarding ‘hundreds and thousands’ of Clinton messages to her husband, ‘some of which contain classified information.’ Comey testified that Abedin had done this so that the disgraced former congressman could print them out for her boss.… FBI officials have privately acknowledged that Comey misstated what Abedin did and what the FBI investigators found.”

Over at RedState, strieff concludes that the suit is “more of a stunt than anything else,” and I completely agree. There’s probably not much money to be made from books revealing that you’re just another failed Hillary stooge. And besides, Strzok is just too creepy and off-putting to make the lecture circuit, as we learned in June of 2018.

But Strzok did get his name back in the news today, and that’s got to be worth something. It isn’t worth his old job back plus back pay, but something?
Maybe, just maybe, it’s worth a bitter salute to the nerve of this guy, and then forgetting all about him for another year.
