Wii U Puts the Uuuu in the Blues

This year’s Madden NFL, one of the biggest franchises in sports video games, won’t be coming to the Wii U, which is currently selling no better than the seven-year-old Wii. And Madden isn’t alone:

Sega officially cancelled the Wii U version of Aliens: Colonial Marines that was first announced way back at E3 2011, though the game’s poor reception on other systems may have factored into that decision. Metro: Last Light was also shown in that 2011 sizzle reel, but the game’s developers said last November that they had stopped development due in part to the system’s “horrible, slow CPU.” A planned Wii U version of Ubisoft’s PC shooter Ghost Recon: Online has been officially “on hold” since September.

I won’t bother rehashing everything that’s wrong with the Wii U, because it’s becoming obvious that I’m far from the only one who sees it. But I will mention that my year-and-a-half old, sight-unseen prediction for the console’s success looks pretty darn accurate.
