David Harsanyi on the bailout:
Are there really only two choices: a depression or nationalization? Can we afford this bailout without spending cuts? Should we rescue financial institutions without the help of the private sector? Why the rush to war?
For starters, for Washington Democrats (and some Republicans, too), it’s always a war. Poverty, drugs… anything but actual shooting wars where you have a chance of, you know, winning — and ending the damn thing. The good news is, the public disagrees this time — which is why vulnerable Democrats voted against the bailout in overwhelming numbers.
