If this is a clash of civilizations, then one of our soldiers has just been murdered by our barbarian enemies. The State Department confirms that Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl is dead.

If Danny’s murder stirs more of our press to join the battle against barbarians, madmen, religious intolerance and deceit, then his death will not have been in vain.
