Soros-Funded Group Gave 50K to Goons Who Provoked Berkeley Riot

The Alliance for Global Justice, an organization funded by the Tides Foundation — a George Soros -backed charity – gave $50,000 to help fund a radical-left group that used violence to shut down an event at the University of California-Berkeley featuring Milo Yiannopoulos.

“Refuse Fascism” bragged on its website about how they used “righteous” violence against “fascist” Yiannopoulos and how they set a shining example for others to follow.

The full name of the group is “In the Name of Humanity, We Refuse to Accept a Fascist America” — a mouthful, to be sure.

The Daily Caller ferreted out the major backers of this bunch of wackos:

The left-wing group that helped organize the violent shut down of the Milo Yiannopoulos event at the University of California, Berkeley on Wednesday is backed by a progressive charity that is in turn funded by George Soros, the city of Tucson, a major labor union and several large companies.

The Alliance for Global Justice, based in Tucson, is listed as an organizer and fiscal sponsor for Refuse Fascism, a communist group that encouraged left-wingers to shut down the Yiannopoulos event.

The call to arms succeeded. Yiannopoulos’ talk was cancelled after demonstrators lit fires, vandalized businesses, and assaulted Donald Trump and Yiannopoulos supporters.

Refuse Fascism, which includes Princeton professor Cornel West as one of its founding “initiators,” defended the response, issuing a statement on its website that called the shut down “righteous.”

And on its Facebook page, the group asserted that the vandalism and arson were not “violence.” Instead, the group argued that Yiannopoulos and Trump perpetrate violence through the policies they support.

“Dismantling police fences is not violent. And to compare preventing someone like that from speaking to the real-world violence that they perpetuate everyday is ludicrous,” reads one post on the group’s Facebook page.

Would it do any good to point out to these brainless twits that the only violence that has resulted from Trump’s order came from them? I guess not.

The organization did not mention the violent attacks against conservatives. One Trump backer was attacked with shovels by a group of men clad in black. He was shown laying unconscious in the middle of the street. A female Trump supporter was blasted with pepper spray while giving an on-camera interview.

How very righteous of them. Of course, if the Trump supporter had died, it would have been justified because they disagree with his political opinions. In Refuse Fascism’s America, opposing them can get you “righteously” killed.

Refuse Fascism’s involvement has spurred questions about who is behind the group. In a series of tweets on Thursday, Trump asserted that the protesters were paid to agitate.

While it is unclear whether those who carried out the violence were paid to do so, the benefactors of the Alliance for Global Justice — and Refuse Fascism — are listed online.

According to its most recent 990 tax form, Alliance for Global Justice (AfGJ) received $2.2 million in funding for the fiscal year ending in March 2016.

One of the group’s biggest donors is the Tides Foundation, a non-profit funded by billionaire progressive philanthropist George Soros. Tides gave AfGJ $50,000.

Other notable donors include the city of Tucson and the United Steel Workers labor union. The former gave $10,000 to AfGJ while the latter contributed $5,000.

Several other corporate charities have given Refuse Fascism funds including Patagonia.Org, Ben and Jerry Foundation, and — irony of ironies — the Peace Development Fund.

Heh.

All of these groups should be liable for the damage done during the “protest.” They’re either too stupid to see who these thugs are and what they’re all about or — more ominously — they know full well the desire of these Brown Shirts to commit violence and are supporting them anyway as a way to destroy civic order in America.

Refuse Fascism’s website is hysterically funny. Some excerpts:

Trump won the Electoral College vote – a legacy of slavery, and used to embed inequality in voting rights since. He lost the popular vote, by well over 2 and a half million votes. Trump has no “mandate”, and his victory is illegitimate.

“Illegitimate” according to who or what? You can disagree with the arcane Electoral College vote deciding the presidential election but that doesn’t make Trump’s victory any less “legitimate” than Barack Obama’s or any other president’s.

More fundamental: the illegitimacy of the entire fascist regime Trump is moving to install. Trump promises to inflict repression and suffering on people in this country, to deport millions, to increase violence up to the use of nuclear weapons on people across the globe, and to inflict catastrophes upon the planet itself.

“The dead rising from the grave!  Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together… mass hysteria!”

Right now it is very important that those who came together around refusefascism.org stay together, reflect on and sum up the rich experience of the past six weeks, and develop new strategy. As one key element of this, it will be important to join with and at times initiate actions against the outrages continually perpetrated by Trump, reaching out to others and sharing perspectives with them.

For the two bedrock points from which we joined with others to start this initiative remain true. One, that this regime is indeed fascist and as such poses a mortal threat and must be defeated. And two, that there are people – millions and tens of millions — who can potentially be mobilized to fight against it and who must be led to step outside the confines of politics-as-usual (including protest-as-usual) to actually OUST this horrendous monstrosity.

Could their meaning be any clearer? I mean, even a brain-dead liberal should be able to figure out that this bunch of street thugs is calling for ultra-violent action.

From here on out, any violence and especially any deaths that occur due to the anti-Trump hysteria being whipped up by “mainstream” Democrats and respectable liberal organizations are on their heads, and their heads alone.
