In a “60 Minutes” interview on Sunday, Leslie Stahl asked President-elect Donald Trump about the reported attacks and hate crimes against minorities since he won the election last week.
“I am very surprised to hear that– I hate to hear that, I mean I hate to hear that,” Trump said. “But I think it’s a very small amount,” he added.
Stahl asked if he had a message for people engaging in this behavior. “I would say don’t do it, that’s terrible, because I’m going to bring this country together.”
Leslie Stahl mentioned the hate crimes against Muslims and Latinos. Trump said: “I am so saddened to hear that. And I say, ‘Stop it.’ If it– if it helps. I will say this, and I will say right to the cameras: ‘Stop it.’”
