Joyful, Joyful: David Cameron Steps Down as British Prime Minister

Ah, for a little while I was afraid the day would never come:

There were no tears, but as the Cameron family hugged each other on the doorstep of 10 Downing Street, there was the briefest glimpse of sorrow.

It had been, said the outgoing Prime Minister, “a lovely home over these last six years”, but its door had closed behind them for the last time, less than three weeks after the referendum vote that sealed their fate.

Reading that, tears welled up in my eyes. How terribly sad: Cameron humiliated. You wouldn’t wish it on your worst enemy, would you?

Well, yes, I would. In fact, few have been so deserving of this degrading episode in their lives as Mr. Cameron.

David Cameron was, is and will always be a europhile moderate. As Tory prime minister, he had the opportunity to change Britain for the better: to break with the European Union (as Margaret Thatcher undoubtedly would’ve wanted), significantly reduce the size of the British government and, before I forget, change the country’s immigration policies so Britain wouldn’t end up committing cultural suicide.

Instead, he cuddled up to the EU, attacked all those who opposed Britain’s EU membership as fascists, continued the failed immigration policies of the past, and did absolutely nothing about the socialism that’s destroying Britain from within.

Cameron has been a failure — and a big one at that. His successor as both Tory leader and PM, Theresa May, couldn’t possibly do a worse job.
