Ted Cruz Unloads on Donald Trump: 'This Man is a Pathological Liar'

This morning during a phone interview on “Fox and Friends,” GOP front-runner Donald Trump linked rival Ted Cruz’s father to Lee Harvey Oswald, the man who shot President John F. Kennedy.

“His father was with Lee Harvey Oswald prior to Oswald being shot. I mean, the whole thing is ridiculous,” Trump said. “Nobody even brings it up; they don’t even talk about that.

“What was he doing with Lee Harvey Oswald shortly before the death, before the shooting?” Trump asked.

Trump’s latest National Enquirer-fueled conspiracy theory forced Cruz to spend time on the campaign trail in Indiana Tuesday defending his father.

“Now Trump alleges that my dad was involved with assassinating JFK. Let’s be clear….this is nuts!” Cruz exclaimed. “This is not a reasonable position – this is just kooky! And while I’m at it, I guess I should just go ahead and admit — yes, my dad killed JFK, he is secretly Elvis, and Jimmy Hoffa is buried in his backyard.”

Cruz went on to say that his father, Rafael Cruz, who escaped communism in Cuba and came to the United States “with $100 in his underwear,” has been his hero his entire life.

Then the Texas senator fully unloaded on the Donald.

“I’m going to do something I haven’t done the entire campaign,” Cruz said. “I’m going to tell you what I really think about Donald Trump. This man is a pathological liar. He doesn’t know the difference between truth and lies. He lies — practically every word that comes out of his mouth. And he has a pattern that I think is straight out of a psychology textbook. His response is to accuse everybody else of lying. Whatever he does, he accuses everyone else of doing.”

Cruz continued, “The man cannot tell the truth but he combines it with being a narcissist. A narcissist at a level that I don’t think this country has ever seen. He’s such a narcissist that Barack Obama looks at him and goes, ‘dude! what’s your problem!’ Everything in Donald’s world is about Donald.”

He added, “but the man is utterly amoral. Morality does not exist for him.”

Some conservatives on social media speculated today that maybe — just maybe — Trump finally  jumped the shark with this latest insanity. But one can more easily picture Trump supporters (like the ones Cruz confronted yesterday) cheering him on and jeering at “lyin’ Ted” and his JFK-killing father. Tragically, 2016 is shaping up to be the year that the Republican electorate abandoned reason for madness.
