Arizona Supreme Court Rules DACA Students Ineligible for In-State Tuition

Some states, like California, allow any illegals who have lived in the state long enough — of course, without documents there’s no way to prove it — to only pay in-state tuition.

However, Arizona’s supreme court just ruled that even students in the United States under DACA would not be subsidized.

The news outraged DACA students and supporters in the state:

“This country has said go and do it the right way, go and get an education (so) you are able to move up … in society and help your community,” said Arizona State University senior Edder Diaz Martinez at a press conference after Monday’s ruling. “But the decision goes completely against that — it says we’re going to put education out of your reach and you’re not going to be able to move up.”

Actually, this country has never said the “right way” is to illegally enter the country so that your kids can receive the education which millions around the world are waiting on line for, in respect of our laws.

DACA students are here illegally. It might not have been their fault, but DACA is incentivizing the act of illegally entering the country to steal a taxpayer-funded education for your children.

These kids are upset because they aren’t getting a reduced tuition rate. Well, sorry: get upset at your parents for putting you in this position.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m more likely to have sympathy for DACA kids than the illegal students in California who are getting in-state tuition rates simply because the state doesn’t give a damn about stealing from taxpayers.

But the fact that DACA students have already been permitted to receive all that they have received from this country is a gift. They need to move beyond the idea that “empathy” entitles them to all the rights and privileges due the citizenry as a whole.

They must understand that all they were given was in fact taken from a taxpayer and a family still waiting patiently in another country.
