Former child “climate change” activist Greta Thunberg has long ago proven her irrelevance in relation to the public conversation. But her continued flailing in an attempt to re-engage in that conversation exposes something about the left, which is that in the end it's not about message, morality or ideology; it's only about power.
In recent years, since the atrocities of Oct. 7, 2023, Thunberg has found a way to wedge herself into that story, taking the side of the perpetrators of those atrocities. Prior to this, it’s not clear that she ever had any opinion of the state of Israel or the Jewish people, but anyone who studies the left can see that taking the side of Hamas's innocent victims would not have put the shine back on her agitator star.
It’s easy to take the side of the victim of an attack like that and show compassion. What’s hard is to find a way to frame the perpetrator as the victim and the victim as the oppressor. Now, that’s a challenge, but there is money, fame, and leftist clout for those who can do that.
To be sure, Thunberg didn’t lead the way here, but when she saw in which direction the leftist winds were blowing, she knew she had to get in on that action.
And so, quick as you can say, “Al Gore doesn’t have any friends,” Thunberg leaped off of the climate change ship and climbed aboard the “Free Palestine” dinghy.
That was Thunberg in the fall of 2025 staging a PR stunt centered on provoking Israel to do something bad to her or her comrades to generate more headlines that would further demonize Israel and the Jews, gin up global hate against Jewish people, and perhaps spur more persecution of said Jewish people. The way to do that, of course, is to wrap yourself in the cloak of victimhood, speak with righteous indignation and a tone of defiance, and make sure to get your check and your marching orders from the big leftist money men who are propping you up.
As theater kids go, Thunberg is the gold standard. Give her a free T-shirt, a karaoke microphone, some key message points, perhaps a chant or two to memorize, then tell her not to take a shower for a couple of days, and you've got yourself some classic Thunberg.
In return, she gets a stipend and relevancy, both of which she needs to continue her grift. Her career ambition is never to have to work an actual job.
When Thunberg staged her flotilla stunt, she was joined by hundreds of other pro-Hamas activists. They purposely sailed into waters 70 nautical miles from the coast of Gaza, according to the BBC, which said these were international waters.
BBC reported that Israel's Foreign Ministry disclosed that “the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) were being transferred to an Israeli port to be deported.”
The Israeli navy alerted the flotilla that it was "approaching an active combat zone and violating a lawful naval blockade." It then intercepted the flotilla and navigated it out of harm’s way. Predictably, the Greta flotilla called the Israeli navy’s action "illegal.” As far as Thunberg was concerned, it was mission accomplished.
Stunts like that one don’t come about spontaneously or all that quickly. It takes a tremendous amount of money and resources; careful recruitment of theater kid participants; training so that nothing unexpected happens that can undermine your message; and, of course, careful timing.
As part of the larger PR effort to use Thunberg to demonize Israel and the Jews, the organizers would see an event like this as an anchor event, one that captures just the right amount of attention to create momentum for the message going forward. That way, when Thunberg participates in less expensive and more routine PR events, the carryover clout from that anchor event continues. The perceptions you want to stick start to stick.
This is Thunberg being arrested a couple of months later in London. You can see the production values for this stunt are bare bones, but it works to further solidify her street cred on this newly adopted cause of hers.
Prior to that flotilla event, Thunberg had been integrating herself into the pro-Hamas movement through activities that come second nature to her, such as marches, stump speeches, and rallies. If you’re an organizer of an agitator event, one of the great things about Thunberg is how adaptable she is to her surroundings, the cause, and the message. You can literally throw your sound system into the back of a gas-guzzling German pickup truck, text some key messages to Thunberg, tell her to pick up a keffiyeh from the wardrobe department, and you’re set to go.
Al Jazeera has reported that Thunberg's newly adopted political enlightenment over Palestine is an extension of her climate work. Get ready for some real leftist mental gymnastics here.
She said that “climate action” is not something to be broken out from her work in the areas of social justice, “anti-colonialism,” and opposition to oppression.
Al Jazeera reported that at a rally in Milan, Italy, Thunberg said, “If you, as a climate activist, don’t also fight for a free Palestine and an end to colonialism and oppression all over the world, then you should not be able to call yourself a climate activist."
Andrew Mitrovica, an Al Jazeera columnist, wrote about Thunberg’s detractors, “They have failed. True to her indefatigable nature, Thunberg keeps raising her voice and offending the fragile sensibilities of the powerful, entrenched interests who have always wanted her to go away and shut up."
Despite the risks and unhinged assaults, Thunberg refuses to go away or shut up. Instead, these days, she has taken to wearing a keffiyeh and, in doing so, merged the movement for climate sanity and justice that she leads with the imperative to end the insanity and injustices being perpetrated against Palestinians with lethal ferocity by an apartheid state.
Despite the fact that everything Thunberg has said on all of this, it’s all a huge load of propagandistic BS that’s designed to mask what Thunberg is really doing and what the left is really doing.
As mentioned, Thunberg is a socialist mercenary, ironically. She earns her keep simply by making noise for the left, mostly via leftist media. Nice work if you can get it, I suppose. But that’s the end of and the depth of her thinking. She’s exactly what Russian communist Vladimir Lenin once described as a “useful idiot.”
So whose interests is Thunberg serving?
In the case of that flotilla, the Free Beacon reported that no small amount of funding for that fleet may have come circuitously from Hamas itself. While the source of this claim was the Israel Foreign Ministry, which is one of the dogs in this fight, would that surprise you?
Other reports suggest that most of the money came from small donors, but as we’ve seen, the left has this small-donor money laundering thing down to a science.
The safest assumption is that whether or not Hamas provided funding to the flotilla, it benefited from it, and so did all those big leftist billionaires and groups who want nothing more than the destruction of the West. Driven by ideology and a larger quest for power, these interests know a useful idiot when they see one.
As interest waned on the climate change issue, leftist master manipulators in their mansions figured out that Thunberg was probably just sitting at home watching Netflix. And so they came up with a way to repurpose her for another one of their pet causes.

Their timing was excellent as far as Thunberg was concerned, because people were starting to forget about her, which is career death for a no-talent former child star.
Now, with her climate grift behind her, she’s all about hating Israel, and she has a lot of company around the world. Given that the Jews have been persecuted for thousands of years, it looks like she could ride this thing for a long time, or until it’s determined that while she may still be an idiot, she’s no longer useful.
