Is Gov. Cuomo Targeting James O'Keefe?

Project Veritas’ James O’Keefe says that New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is targeting his group with a malicious investigation. In a statement O’Keefe released Wednesday, O’Keefe notes that Cuomo recently declared that New York is “no place” for “extreme conservatives,” defining them as people who are pro-life, support the Second Amendment and “anti-gay,” by which he meant people who support the traditional definition of marriage.

All of those positions earn at least plurality support nationwide, and votes even in liberal California have upheld the traditional definition of marriage, often by wide margins.

O’Keefe writes:

Governor Cuomo thinks conservatives have no place in the state of New York.

Sadly, that comes as no surprise, since Cuomo has been targeting Project Veritas for months now.

Despite the fact that Project Veritas’s finances are meticulously maintained to the penny, Governor Cuomo and the New York Department of Labor is on a witch-hunt, demanding all documents and financials since our founding.

This is nothing more than meritless, politically-driven targeting. Governor Cuomo said it himself – we don’t belong in New York.

Still, we complied with the government and prepared all the requested documentation for a meeting scheduled on December 13, 2013.

But guess what? The New York Department of Labor’s compliance officers never showed up.

That’s because they know we’ve done nothing wrong. Just like the IRS, they are simply intimidating and targeting us.

Now we are being subpoenaed and I must show up in court with accountants and attorneys to prove we’ve done nothing wrong.

The harassment is never-ending, and it is expensive to keep defending. Would you consider donating $25, $50, $100 or whatever you can afford today to help us fight back against Cuomo’s political targeting and harassment?

This is what happens when you expose the government. We’ve done it countless times in New York, exposing Medicaid fraud, big-labor union bosses and their confessions about the “bullshit” that is Green Jobs Green New York.

This is the price of success. This is the price of the truth. We cannot let them us distract from our mission that is exactly what they want.

Just this week, O’Keefe exposed the Democrats’ Battleground Texas activists mocking Republican state Attorney General Greg Abbott over his disability and condoning voter fraud. One of the activists exposed in the video is Lewisville deputy voter registrar and attorney Lisa Wortham. Thus far, Battleground Texas has not publicly reacted to the video or taken any known action against those caught in the O’Keefe video.
