Phoenix Jewelry Store Owner Shoots, Wounds Armed Robber

If you outlaw guns, only criminals will have guns.

PHOENIX (KSAZ) – A woman who allegedly tried to rob a jewelry store is hospitalized in critical condition after being shot several times by the store owner.

Phoenix police say the owner and the suspect exchanged gunfire Tuesday afternoon at Diamond Star AZ Jewelry near 13th Street and Northern Avenue.

The woman fled the scene, but was arrested a short distance away in a nearby neighborhood and taken to an area hospital. Authorities say she was shot several times by the store’s owner after she allegedly tried to rob it.

The owner, who is in his 70s, was also shot in the exchange, but sustained less serious injuries than the robber.
