Texas, Wyoming Take Colorado's Gun Jobs

It’s a shame that it’s come to this, but Texas and Wyoming will be happy to absorb the jobs that blue Colorado is chasing away.

Magpul Industries announced today that it is relocating its operations to Wyoming and Texas.

The company is relocating manufacturing, distribution and shipping operations to Cheyenne, Wyoming. Magpul is leasing a 58,000 square foot manufacturing and distribution facility during the construction of a 100,000 square foot build-to-suit facility in the Cheyenne Business Parkway. The Wyoming relocation is being completed with support from Governor Matt Mead, the Wyoming Business Council and Cheyenne LEADS.

Magpul is moving its corporate headquarters to Texas. Three North Central Texas sites are under final consideration, and the transition to the Texas headquarters will begin as soon as the facility is selected. The Texas relocation is being accomplished with support from Governor Rick Perry and the Texas Economic Development Corporation.

Magpul initially announced its intention to leave Colorado once Democrat Gov. John Hickenlooper used tragedy to justify signing new restrictions on the Second Amendment in Colorado. The blue dog revealed himself to be a typical progressive.

I can’t speak for Wyoming, but the choice to move to Texas is a no-brainer, at least for now. During my hiatus last week I ventured down to the state capitol to show it off to my visiting family. Most state capitol gift shops sell local versions of the same things — toys for the kids, books about state history, shirts and hats with the state flag, all that.

The Texas capitol gift shop sells this mug.

Of course I had to buy one. Of course it holds my morning joe right now.

The shop has replica Gonzales flags and such too. But that’s not all.

The Texas capitol gift shop also sells gun gases. Long gun and hand gun. Several styles.

And if you have a concealed handgun license, you can bypass the metal detectors at the entrances.

So yeah, we’re friendly to the Second Amendment around here. For now.

The Democrats want to change all that, of course. That’s why Obama’s Battleground Texas is here — to turn Texas into Colorado. The woman atop the Democrats’ gubernatorial ticket, Wendy Davis, is one of those progressives who owns a gun but doesn’t think the rest of us should be trusted with the same rights.

Thankfully, Davis is a very long shot to win. But if the Democrats do start to grab power here without jettisoning their anti-gun beliefs…
