Rick Scott Expresses Concern About Obamacare 'Navigators' And Privacy

Ya think?

Florida Governor Rick Scott voiced serious concerns Tuesday over what the federal government will do with personal and financial data collected by “navigators” who help people find insurance coverage under the new national health-care exchange system.

“Privacy has been a big issue for me,” Scott told a meeting of the Florida Cabinet held in downtown Miami. “We don’t know how this information is going to be used.”

A new Florida law requires navigators to have training provided by the federal government and for them to be fingerprinted, with background checks conducted by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

This Navigator system is one of the messiest parts of this hot mess thus far (and that’s saying a lot). They are set to go to work soon yet none of them have been hired or trained yet. And the guidelines for for keeping the private information private aren’t really in place. Think “TSA but giving your financials a pat-down”.

If the sticker shock doesn’t get some of the less-informed original supporters of this nightmare to back away from it, maybe the overwhelming creepiness of the law’s enforcement will.
