National Black Chamber of Commerce President Harry C. Alford blasted President Barack Obama today on the Andrea Tantaros Show. Alford says that he supported Obama’s election 2008, but now says that Obama “made a fool out of me.” Alford says that many Americans, including prominent citizens like radio host Tom Joyner, explicitly voted for Obama because he is black. Alford says that he joined in and voted for Obama to be the first black president, but now recognizes electing Obama was a huge mistake. He slammed Obama for continually campaigning rather than leading, and for failing to perform the basic functions of his job while doing everything he can to keep growing government power over the citizens.
“He believes in government controlling the lives of the people,” Alford said. “He wants government in anything and everything. Health insurance. He wants it in your job, the way you run your lifestyle, culture. He wants to take away your guns, which is a constitutionally-protected right.”
Alford also called out Barack Obama’s inattention to the national budget. The president has yet to submit a budget on time, and has not had a budget passed in more than 1,400 days.
“He doesn’t care about a budget. I’ve never known a president who doesn’t care about a budget. How do you run the richest economy in the world without a budget?” Alford asked. “You can’t even run a shoe-shine stand without a budget.”
Host Andrea Tantaros asked Alford whether Obama’s economic failures can be attributed to his inexperience — he has never run a business or held any executive job until the presidency — or to his beliefs.
“Oh, he’s got some plans he won’t dare discuss. He wants to take it some place where we’ve never been before, and it’s some place where we shouldn’t go. He is scary,” Alford answered.
“What do you think those plans are?” Tantaros asked.
“To make America not as great as it once was,” Alford responded. “That all countries should be equal, and everyone should get along, and stop thinking that European socialists is a bad system. We should be like them. We should be like France, as it’s approaching a 75% rate for taxation for wealthy. It’s crazy.”
Tantaros asked Alford, can the Republican Party find a way to attract more black voters, in a time when the president’s policies are producing heavy unemployment in the black community? Alford cited the misery in a major American, Democrat-run city as an opportunity for the GOP.
“You know, a major opportunity for the Republicans is the the city of Detroit,” Alford said. “It is a disaster, and the Republican governor is taking it over. What if he assigned that city to Mitt Romney, like we did the Winter Olympics? And he brought that city back? That is a game-changer for the Republican Party.”
