Republicans target EPA, Democrats delay

Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-OK) has big plans for forcing a vote aimed at reining in the Obama EPA this week:

Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) vowed Wednesday that he will offer his plan to block EPA climate change rules as an amendment to future bills if a pending effort is squelched.

Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has proposed grafting Inhofe’s plan to small business legislation that’s currently on the Senate floor.

While several swing votes stayed mum on their plans late Wednesday morning, the measure faces high hurdles to passage.

In a sign that the Republican forces were making headway, though, the Democrats appear to have balked.

UPDATE: McConnell’s office emailed to say that Democrats are likely to put off the vote again until after recess.
