Obama Uses Giffords Tragedy to Advance Gun Control

From Obama’s memorial speech:

“Already we’ve seen a national conversation commence, not only about the motivations behind these killings, but about everything from the merits of gun safety laws…”

Gun banners claim they’re about “gun safety”. Allegedly, guns are “safer” if their magazines hold a limited amount of ammunition. After all, you don’t need more than X rounds for target shooting or hunting. Especially when your “compromise” makes us feel safer.

(Piles of research show gun control doesn’t make us safer. The Centers for Disease Control and the National Academies of Science agree on that.)

Mr. President, does Michelle need designer dresses, when one million families lost their homes in 2010? Did you need a Hawaii vacation costing taxpayers $1.5 million, when millions of unemployed Americans are struggling to afford a trip to the supermarket?

Here’s the fallacy of ruling others based upon need, a concept popularized by Karl Marx: “From each according to his ability, to each according to his need.” Wanting is wrong, as long as self-appointed judges rule others don’t have what they need.

Gun owners must sacrifice because others need to feel safe.

And you must die when one more bullet you needed would save you.
