Remember the good old days, when Democrats weren't openly cheering for attacks on churches? At times it seems like it was only yesterday, but this kind of crazy doesn't just pop up overnight. When you think about it, the Dems have been preparing to go full One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest for a long time now.
Before I get into this, let me make it clear that I am aware that just picking up and going elsewhere isn't easy — or even possible — for a lot of people. However, with the frothing hordes on the left getting frothier by the day, it's worth examining options for people who live in blue crazy places. One wouldn't want to have to move because one was chased from one's home by an anti-ICE mob, would one?
Firearms enthusiasts like me are fond of saying "buy ammo" in these troubled times. It is sometimes easy to forget that some of our fellow patriots have spent years living in places where acquiring even one gun is difficult. In the past decade or so, blue state Dems have been working hard to dismantle the Second Amendment rights of their law-abiding citizens.
Some states have seen rapid changes in gun rights. Honestly, California's gun laws weren't that bad for most of the 25 years I lived there. Heck, Jerry Brown even vetoed the first couple of anti-gun bills that came across his desk when he got back to the governor's office in 2011. Colorado is rapidly turning into a blue nightmare for gun owners. Over at our sister site Bearing Arms, my friend and colleague Cam Edwards has been writing a lot about the anti-gun fever that the new Dem majority in Virginia has (here's a recent article).
Fortunately, there are still plenty of states here in the Republic where the Constitution applies and people can make their own determinations about how much home and family protection they need. There are myriad reasons for fleeing blue states, but getting somewhere serious home defense can be penciled into the budget might be the best one right now. You're all most definitely welcome here in Arizona. We are still a purple state and an influx of gun-shopping red voters would be quite helpful.
The gun shopping is otherworldly here, by the way.
Those who are trapped in places with onerous gun laws should, at the very least, see what they can do working within those laws to start a weapons cache. I know a lot of people who have let the cumbersome processes in blue state keep them from even trying to buy a gun. The time has never been better to put the process in motion, no matter how irritating it is. It's a safe bet that the Democrats aren't going to suddenly become less insane. Ever.
No matter where you are, it's important to plan ahead for those boating accidents.
