President Trump is pushing back against the feverish attempts by many in the media to portray him as having started or egged on a chant of “send her back” at his rally in North Carolina on Wednesday night.
President Donald Trump claimed Thursday he “was not happy” with the crowd at his campaign rally in North Carolina the previous evening for chanting “send her back,” after he had goaded the audience with a fiery attack on Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.).
“I was not happy with it. I disagree with it. But again, I didn’t say that. They did. But I disagree with it,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office, adding that he “started speaking very quickly” in an attempt to silence the rally attendees.
“It was quite a chant, and I felt a little bit badly about it,” Trump said
I didn’t see the rally but when I checked the Twitter commotion afterward (as I always do after the president speaks) the lefty spin practically made it seem as if Trump was conducting the audience in the chant. A quick glimpse of the video proved that to be wrong, but political zealots on social media don’t let things like reality get in the way of narrative.
The awful mainstream media lefties want this to be a story and will now spend several news cycles none-too-subtly implying that the people chanting at the rally are representative of virtually every Republican who has ever walked the planet.
I wrote on Monday that no response from conservatives and Republicans to media-manufactured outrages like this is ever satisfactory to the Left. The New York Times backed me up on that today:

The MSM wants to portray Ilhan Omar as blameless, which is absurd. She and the rest of the “Squad” relish in flinging around incendiary, divisive comments. Deliberate provocation is their brand.
The MSM’s ongoing Indignation Kabuki Theater whenever the deliberate provocation by The Squad succeeds in provoking people is beyond wearisome.
President Trump isn’t goading anyone into being annoyed with Rep. Omar.
She is very adept at doing that all by herself.
