Viva la Muerte (except his)

Last night, I caught the Castro documentary on PBS that Cathy Seipp wrote about a week or so ago. I agree with Cathy. It is “compelling”. Just watching the Caudillo age in the many clips is fascinating. Also, it’s an extraordinary study in narcissism. I remember seeing him speak in Central Park when I was a 13-year old kid. Boy, did we believe him them, the great liberator. Now he’s a drooling fascist.

I wouldn’t doubt that one of my other childhood heroes Nat Hentoff was there too at the time, believing. Hentoff, of course, has grown and changed over the years, as many haven’t. Here, via Callimachus, is Hentoff’s latest look at what Fidel hath wrought.
