WHY A MAD VOTER?
Or as Chico Marx once asked, “Why a duck? Why a no chicken?”
Okay, enough bad jokes. This is too serious. Why a mad voter? Why this new site?
Every year as long as I can remember people have been saying “This is the most important election ever!”
Sounds like the boy who cried wolf, doesn’t it?
Well, forget that. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ELECTION EVER!
Why? I think most readers of PJ Media and millions of others know the answer immediately. Barack Obama has taken the country in a direction far from the intention of its Founders, so far in fact that it borders on the unrecognizable. We are reaching the point of no return. Maybe we’ve even gone past it. If something isn’t done to bring back the America we all knew and loved on November 8, 2016, we might as well all start thinking about moving to another country. Problem is there isn’t another country worth moving to. (Well, maybe Israel, but it’s far too small to contain all of us.)
So that means getting the right person elected. But who is it? I wish I knew. There are so many people running for president — or potentially running for president — you’d need a scorecard for the last six Super Bowls combined. If I had any hair left, I’d be pulling it out.
Well, that’s not true. I have my favorites. Everybody does and everybody’s biased. Bias is as American as apple pie. And you’ll learn about mine soon enough, if you haven’t already guessed.
But that doesn’t mean I won’t change my mind. In fact, I’m suspicious of people who never do.
But I do have one bias that is unlikely to change. If someone in the R column doesn’t win this election, I’m getting in a time machine, going back to World War II and coming back as a kamikaze pilot.
So to keep myself from that fate, I have started “Diary of a Mad Voter” (a homage to the 1970 Frank Perry film that doesn’t hold up that well, I’m sorry to say) to track this endless election campaign and try to stay sane in the process. I’ve also agreed to spend unconscionable amounts of time watching people shake hands on CSPAN.
Am I doing this alone? Of course not. You think I’m crazy? I’m not Harry Truman and I can’t stand the heat in the kitchen (or the comments section!) by myself. I am going to have a bazillion co-conspirators — some unindicted and some not — and some of the fun (yes, we have to have fun in this, otherwise we will all be kamikaze pilots) will be unveiling them as we go along. Right at the start you will see some familiar names here. We are reaching out to the candidates’ campaigns too.
Stay tuned. We may win our country back yet.
