Oscar-winning actor Jon Voight was awarded the National Medal of Arts by Donald Trump in Washington on Thursday and prior to the ceremony, spoke plainly about Hollywood culture and the Democratic Party.
“They’re programmed, you see,” he told DailyMail.com. “There’s been an attack with propaganda that was inserted over the years, you know. A lot of it in the ’60s.”
“And people don’t realize that they’ve been undermined. The Democratic Party’s been undermined, overtaken by Marxists, and, you know, and atheists,” Voight added.
“They took God out of their platform. Can you imagine that?” he asked.
Others receiving medals included prolific author James Patterson, Sharon Rockefeller, and bluegrass singer Alison Krauss.
Voight’s political transformation from Hollywood liberal to conservative mirrors that of Ronald Reagan and other former California leftists who had the scales fall from their eyes. He went from making anti-war appearances with Jane Fonda to conservative culture warrior in 2008.
The Democratic Party, in its quest for power, has managed a propaganda campaign with subliminal messages, creating a God-like figure in a man who falls short in every way. It seems to me that if Mr. Obama wins the presidential election, then Messrs. Farrakhan, Wright, Ayers and Pfleger will gain power for their need to demoralize this country and help create a socialist America.
The Democrats have targeted young people, knowing how easy it is to bring forth whatever is needed to program their minds. I know this process well. I was caught up in the hysteria during the Vietnam era, which was brought about through Marxist propaganda underlying the so-called peace movement. The radicals of that era were successful in giving the communists power to bring forth the killing fields and slaughter 2.5 million people in Cambodia and South Vietnam. Did they stop the war, or did they bring the war to those innocent people? In the end, they turned their backs on all the horror and suffering they helped create and walked away.
As for Voight, his legendary career has included an Oscar-winning performance in the anti-Vietnam war drama Coming Home, and four Golden Globe nominations. He has appeared in beloved films like National Treasure, Catch-22, Midnight Cowboy, and was the title character in a bio-pic on John Paul II.
Trump recognized Voight’s gifts as an actor. He called him “an actor of astonishing range and depth” and “one of America’s greatest living legends in cinema.”
Most recently, Voight received a Prime Time Emmy nomination for his role in the Showtime original series, Ray Donovan.
