Senator Lindsey Graham and Donald Trump are golfing buddies? The two apparently are now getting along famously, despite the fact that Graham once called Trump a “kook.”
During a Q & A at an event hosted by the Greenville County Republican Party on Monday, Graham offered some sage advice to the president, who the senator says “must have mentioned ending the Mueller probe 20 times” during their golf outing.
REPORTER: “Why don’t the two of you step up and stop the Mueller investigation?”
GRAHAM: “Well, did Trump ask that question? (Laughter) He must have mentioned that about 20 times… I told the president, ‘I know you don’t like it. I know you feel put upon. You’ve just got to ride it out. I want to win in November. If we stop the Mueller probe tomorrow, you wouldn’t be able to talk about anything else.’”
Democrats are salivating at the prospect of Trump ending the investigation into Russian collusion in a pique of anger and frustration. But it’s not going to happen. I daresay there would be an impeachment trial in the Senate by this time next summer if the Dems win the House and vote out articles of impeachment. It’s likely that some Republicans would join them.
Trump is not suicidal. In fact, he’s shown himself to be a survivor. But he certainly drives Democrats batty by threatening to shut the probe down, doesn’t he?
