DNC Chair Says 'Racial Gerrymandering' Is a Staple of the GOP

DNC Chair Tom Perez made the claim that “racial gerrymandering” is a staple of the Republican Party. Of course, the Republicans have actually, historically, been the party of civil rights leaders and desegregationists. All of the leaders of the Confederacy, including their president, Jefferson Davis, were Democrats; and of course Abraham Lincoln was a Republican. George Wallace, the infamous segregationist governor of Alabama, was a Democrat. And Robert Byrd, a former KKK leader, was not only a Democratic senator, but also their chief Senate leader and president pro tempore. So, tell us again which political party has a history of racism and racial gerrymandering….
