Elizabeth Warren Was Cut Off From Speaking Because She Violated Senate Rules

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) was determined by the presiding president of the U.S. Senate to have violated the Senate Rules. Senate Rule XIX says: “No Senator in debate shall, directly or indirectly, by any form of words impute to another Senator or to other Senators any conduct or motive unworthy or unbecoming a Senator.” Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) raised the point of order, and the presiding president agreed that Warren had broken this rule with her remarks about Attorney General nominee Jeff Sessions, who is also a sitting senator from Alabama. They actually cut her speech off and told her to take a seat.
