Early Wednesday morning, a sledgehammer-wielding man destroyed Donald Trump’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star. Deadline Hollywood identified the man as Jamie Otis, who was dressed as a city worker while destroying the star.

Otis said that the original plan was to remove the star and auction it off in New York for charity.
The proceeds would have gone to help the multiple women who have accused Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, of sexual assault in recent weeks.
Trump’s Hollywood Boulevard star, earned for his work on the NBC reality TV show “The Apprentice,” has been vandalized multiple times since he launched his campaign last year.
Earlier this year, a street artist put a “wall” around the star to protest Trump’s plan to build a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border.
A petition with thousands of signatures that demanded Trump’s star be pulled off the off the Hollywood Walk of Fame was rejected.
This is just the latest example of violence against Trump and the Republicans this campaign season. An office was recently firebombed in North Carolina and a bomb threat was called into a GOP headquarters in Virginia.
