Former Fox News host Megyn Kelly suggested on her podcast Monday that the media’s coverage of the Jan. 6 Capitol riot has been overblown.
In a conversation with comedian Chrissie Mayr, who said she attended the “Stop the Steal” rally ahead of the breach of the Capitol, Kelly said that there’s “no question” that the media “represented it as so much worse than it actually was.
“I was there and anybody who was there on the 6th is, like, blown away by how, like, inaccurate the media coverage is,” said Mayr. “At this point, it’s like I don’t want to listen to anybody’s thoughts on the 6th unless they were like there, like physically there, because it was so, like, not a big deal.”
Kelly pushed back on the “no big deal” comment: “We’ve all seen the video of people, like, screaming in the face of cops, being totally disparaging, and defecating on the floor of the U.S. Capitol, and lawmakers were understandably afraid — not like [Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez saying] ‘I need therapy for the rest of my life’ afraid, but I could understand it, and I didn’t like seeing it,” Kelly said.
The Democrat-Media Complex has insisted that the attack on the Capitol was nothing short of an insurrection. The Department of Justice still has Capitol rioters in a D.C. lock-up—in solitary confinement with conditions being compared to those at Guantanamo Bay. The Daily Mail reported that they’re “held in solitary confinement for 23 to 24 hours a day in small cells and allegedly assaulted and degraded by jail guards” in “restrictive housing” designated as “maximum security” facilities.

The feds are also keeping Capitol surveillance tapes from January 6th close to their vests. Defendants and their lawyers can only view partial clips, never full videos, in a supervised setting. They cannot download clips. Free-flowing conversations between lawyers and their clients are difficult, as they are held in open cages where guards can hear everything. Also, visiting with one’s attorney means a 14-day quarantine afterward, which the defendants see as punitive.
The treatment of the Capitol defendants is so bad that even Democrat Sens. Elizabeth Warren and Dick Durbin have spoken out against it.
“Solitary confinement is a form of punishment that is cruel and psychologically damaging,” Sen. Warren told Politico, “and we’re talking about people who haven’t been convicted of anything yet.”
