Chick-fil-A Has Caved to the LGBT Mob, But That Won't Be the End of It

It seems like with every passing day another group, organization, or corporation bows to the LGBT revolutionaries who seek to encourage force us all to accept celebrate their sexual proclivities. The lastest to cave to the pressure, and perhaps the most disappointing to date, is our beloved Chick-fil-A. For years customers have voted for the company’s Christian values with their feet, making it the third-largest fast-food chain in the country, despite its refusal to open its stores on Sundays and in the face of mounting pressure over its charitable giving to Christian organizations that refuse to bow the knee to the revolutionaries.

Chick-fil-A’s current CEO Tim Tassopoulos announced in an interview with Bisnews on Monday that it will restructure its charitable giving in 2019 to focus on “critical issues in communities where we do business in the U.S.,” including education, hunger, and homelessness. Left out of the equation are three overtly Christian organizations—the Salvation Army, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and the Paul Anderson Youth Home — coincidentally not coincidentally the three groups at the top of the LGBT mob’s hit list.

“Future partners could include faith-based and non-faith-based charities, but the company said none of the organizations have anti-LGBT positions,” Bisnews reported. [Emphasis mine.]

A headline at The Babylon Bee was more truth than satire: “Chick-Fil-A Trades Adoring Christian Fans For Outraged Mob That Won’t Be Appeased Until Their Every Demand Is Met.”

That’s exactly right. If Chick-fil-A thinks they can appease the mobsters by defunding a few traditional Christian organizations, they’ve got another thing coming. The goal of the sexual revolutionaries is not a few concessions or even appeasement — they want total submission and beyond even that, they demand that everyone celebrate their lifestyle, and you’d better mean it.

For many of us, Chick-fil-A has stood as a delicious bulwark against leftists in their march to destroy the American family and marginalize anything that smells of Christianity. And customers—many, many of them Christians — have rewarded the chain with their business, to the tune of $10.5 billion last year. That’s a lot of chicken sandwiches — and a lot goodwill and loyalty. And now? They’re just another corporate behemoth that has sold us out for 30 pieces of silver. Not only did they defund the charities, but they did it publicly, virtue-signaling for all the world to see. They’ve chosen sides in the culture war—they’re on the side of the mob now, or at least they’re more afraid of the LGBT mob than they are of their Christian customers. And that’s what makes this decision so disappointing. Unlike the little mom-and-pop market in your hometown, Chick-fil-A can afford to lose a million (or ten million) dollars if they stand up to the mob, but they’ve apparently decided that the culture war is over and it’s time to join the winning side. Thanks for forking over your hard-earned cash, Christians. We’re on to greener—and woker— pastures.

While it’s true that as a private company Chick-fil-A can do whatever it wants with its money, there’s a larger context—Christian organizations are under attack in America and it won’t end with the capitulation of a fast-food joint. Chick-fil-A’s decision is like chum in the water to these nasty, intolerant bigots, who wield their “love wins” mantra like a bludgeon to crush anyone who disagrees with them. Even though Chick-fil-A doesn’t discriminate in hiring and serves everyone regardless of who they sleep with or which gender they masquerade as, and even though Chick-fil-A pulled funding from three charitable organizations (that help millions of people, gay, straight, and other, by the way) it will not be enough.

Here’s a prediction: When Pride month rolls around next year, Chick-fil-A will be waving the rainbow flag with the rest of corporate America and scolding those of us who hold to traditional Christian values about sexuality and marriage.

The big picture here—the one that a lot of Christians have their heads in the sand about—is that this won’t stop with Chick-fil-A. The sexual revolutionaries have control of most of corporate America, most of our nation’s schools, and most of the media, but they demand still more. They want the Christian view of sexuality confined to the dustbin of history and anyone who clings to outdated notions of biblical values shamed and silenced.

Christian persecution is coming to America. Oh, they won’t be burning us at the stake or feeding us to the lions (at least not yet) but Christians who refuse to renounce their biblical beliefs about sexuality will be fired and refused employment, shunned and treated like pariahs in society. Maybe even have their children removed from their homes.

And if you think Trump and other Republicans are going to save us from this, think again. Anyone who has hung out in conservative and/or Republican circles over the last few years knows a dirty little secret: “Conservatives” are increasingly supportive of gay relationships and marriage—and they wish the rest of us would shut up about it already and stop embarrassing them.

Indeed, a Pew Research poll earlier this year found that 35% of conservative Republicans and Republican leaners support same-sex marriage, along with 59% of liberal Republicans. And that number grows with every election cycle. We’re already at the point where you have to be careful what you say about the issue amongst conservatives. It’s only a matter of time before the GOP platform contains strong language condemning anyone who does not approve of the prevailing sexual morality. Reagan’s three-legged stool is hanging on by a splinter.

The smell of persecution is in the air, but that doesn’t mean all is lost. Nothing about the decline of Christianity in America surprises God. He is still at work among the faithful and He won’t desert us in our time of need. But we’ve got a mandate that we mustn’t neglect—it’s incumbent on us to diligently teach our children God’s word and to preach the gospel in Jerusalem, Judea, and to the ends of the earth. The LGBT debate may be nearing its end, but that’s not the end of the story.
