Zuckerberg Says He's Open to Government Regulating Facebook

During a lengthy interview with CNN’s Laurie Segall, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg was asked why the company should not be regulated.

“I’m actually am not sure we shouldn’t be regulated,” Zuckerberg said. “I think in general technology is an increasingly important trend in the world. I think the question is more ‘what is the right regulation’ rather than ‘yes or no should it be regulated.'”

He said ads are one area in particular that should be regulated. “There are things like ads transparency regulation that I would love to see,” he said, citing the ad regulations for print media and TV. “It’s just not clear why there should be less on the Internet. There should be the same level of transparency required,” he said. “People should know who is buying the ads” on Facebook.
