On Saturday, the Conservative Political Action Committee (CPAC) announced it had invited Breitbart editor Milo Yiannopoulos to be a speaker at next week’s convention in Washington, D.C. Several sources, including Breitbart News, claimed that he was asked to be the keynote speaker, which American Conservative Chairman Matt Schlapp (sort of) denied on Twitter.
Since then, there has been a lot of back and forth on social media about whether Yiannopoulos, who told Bill Maher this week that he doesn’t know if he’s a conservative, should have been invited at all. On the one hand, he’s been a tireless champion for the cause of free speech, particularly on college campuses. On the other hand, he’s known to be crass, provocative, and has a history of saying some truly reprehensible things. For example, when Daily Wire editor-in-chief Ben Shapiro welcomed his second child into the world, Yiannopoulos tweeted, “Prayers to Ben who had to see his kid come out half-black. And already taller than he is!”
An article at PJM Saturday included a video interview that showed Yiannopoulos joking about having sex with his priest, Father Michael, when he was 14 years old. He claimed it was a great experience and went on to discuss parties he’s attended where adult men were having sex with young boys. A great time was had by all, according to Milo.

Now another video has emerged that goes well beyond joking about pederasty (as if that’s not bad enough). In a “Drunken Peasants” podcast he actually advocates for sex between men and boys as young as thirteen—or as soon as they begin puberty.
While Yiannopoulos says the age of consent law is “probably” about right, he adds that there are some boys (he calls them boys) who are capable of giving consent at a younger age. He claims he was one of them and says he is grateful for his relationship with Father Michael, the priest who molested him when he was fourteen (Yiannopoulos doesn’t use the word molest, but let’s not kid ourselves here). He credits the Catholic priest for teaching him the proper way to perform oral sex.
“You know, people are messy and complex and in the homosexual world particularly some of those relationships between younger boys and older men, the sort of coming of age relationships, the relationships in which those older men help those young boys discover who they are and give them security and safety and provide them with love and a reliable rock where they can’t speak to their parents,” he said. (Child sexual abuse counselors call this “grooming.”)
Yiannopoulos then attempted to defend and redefine sex between men and young boys, claiming it’s just consensual sex. “Pedophilia is not a sexual attraction to somebody 13 years old who is sexually mature,” he said. “Pedophilia is an attraction to children who have not reached puberty. Pedophilia is an attraction to people who don’t have sex organs yet, who have not gone through puberty, who are too young to understand the way their body functions. That is not what we’re talking about. You don’t understand what pedophilia is if you think I’m defending it. I’m certainly not.” (That’s not what the law says. Correction: I should have been clearer and said that what he’s advocating—sex between adult men and young teen boys—is still against the law.)
He admitted, however, that he’s advocating for cross-generational relationships (a nice euphemism for adults having sex with minor children). “I don’t mind admitting that,” he said. “And I think particularly in the gay world and outside the Catholic church, if that’s where some of you want to go with this, I think in the gay world some of the most important, enriching, and incredibly life-affirming important, shaping relationships between younger boys and older men, they can be hugely positive experiences for those young boys. They can even save them from desolation, from suicide, from addiction, all sorts of things, provided they’re consensual.”
Several times in this interview Yiannopoulos makes reference to “the gay world” as if there should be different standards for homosexuals based on their sexual proclivities. He seems to be suggesting that pedophilia cross-generational relationships ought to be considered within normal limits for homosexuals, implying that these “relationships” are healthy and even necessary.
Yiannopoulos, who’s denying what he’s advocating in this video amounts to sexual abuse, can wrap this in a thousand euphemisms and claim all he wants that it’s “for the children!” but ultimately what he’s advocating is allowing grown men to fulfill their deviant desires to sexually abuse young boys. Playing word games about 13-year-old boys who give “consent” is nothing more than putting window dressing on the abuse that he’s attempting to normalize. It’s disturbing that someone would discuss such vile—not to mention illegal—behavior so openly in public. It’s emblematic of our national cultural rot that people who brag about their perversions and illegal activity are put on pedestals and called heroes of the conservative cause—and that they’re invited to speak at CPAC…allegedly a conservative convention.
