The drive-by shooting in Givat Asaf this morning is just two kilometers from another drive-by shooting earlier this week in Ofra that wounded seven.

Anna Ahronheim of the Jerusalem Post reports:

In a devastating terrorist attack on Thursday, two Israelis were killed and two others were seriously wounded in the West Bank, just north of Jerusalem.

The shots were fired by a Palestinian who got out of his car and started shooting. He then fled the scene and his car was located by security forces near Ramallah. The terrorist was believed to have fled on foot and soldiers were searching for him…

The dead and wounded were said to be in their 20s. The two wounded – a man and woman – were evacuated to Jerusalem’s Shaarei Zedek Medical Center.

A Hamas spokesman has claimed credit for the Givat Asaf attack:

The Jerusalem Post is reporting that the Palestinian attacker was captured near Ramallah wearing an IDF uniform.

In the stabbing attack on two Israeli police officers overnight in the Old City of Jerusalem, the attacker was shot and killed.

The Times of Israel reports:

Two Border Police officers were stabbed and lightly wounded in a terror attack before dawn Thursday in the Old City of Jerusalem, before shooting dead their assailant, police and medics said.

The male officer was stabbed in the face, near his eye. The female border guard was stabbed in the leg. The attacker, a 26-year-old Palestinian from the West Bank, was shot dead by the officers.

Video surveillance also showed the attacker had previously assaulted an Orthodox Jewish man before attacking the police officers.

The attack in Givat Asaf this morning may be in retaliation for the killing of two suspected terrorists overnight by the Yamam special counter-terrorism unit.

Ashraf Walid Suleiman Na’alwa, 23, who carried out a terror attack in Barkan two months ago that killed two, was discovered in Nablus and killed during a shootout.

Saleh Omar Barghouti, 29, who was part of the terror cell that opened fire at a bus stop in Ofra on Sunday, was also killed in a counter-terrorism operation.

Barghouti was hailed a “heroic martyr” by Hamas on its official Twitter account.

There are currently protests going on in support of the two Hamas terrorists in Ramallah.

One of the victims in the earlier Ofra attack was 21-year-old Shira Ish-Ran, who was 30 weeks pregnant. The child was born prematurely, and after three days of efforts by medical personnel, died yesterday. Shira’s husband, Amichai, was also wounded in the shooting, and both remain under care in the hospital.

The 3-day-old child, who was given the name Amiad Yisrael, was buried on the Mount of Olives last night.

The victims of Sunday’s drive-by attack at Ofra junction occurred as the victims were lighting Hanukkah candles in memory of a car accident victim.

Eleven people have been killed in seven terror attacks this year in the West Bank, including today’s incident in Givat Asaf.
