There are literally countless parenting choices that we must begin to make when we have children. Breast milk or formula? Cloth diapers or disposable? Baby carrier or carriage? Another of the big decisions that many parents have to make has to do with sleeping. Some parents choose to put their babies in a bassinet or crib from the get-go, while others feel strongly about co-sleeping. Others still have fussy babies and end up co-sleeping as a way to get a little more rest during those really tough, sleep-deprived few months of life. Whatever choices we make as parents, though, we usually make them after a fair bit of thought and consideration about what is right for our family at that given time. And that’s why what we choose should be nobody’s business but our own.

One Yukon, Okla., dad, David Brinkley, recently shared a photo on Facebook that has gone viral. The topic? Co-sleeping, of course. The beautiful photo showed his wife sleeping with the couple’s two young children. Here’s what he wrote, according to ABC 11:

“I do NOT hate any part of what makes my wife the mother that she is. I would NEVER degrade or disregard anything that she feels like doing for my children. Do I have to squeeze into a small corner of the bed sometimes? Yeah? But my God how beautiful does she look holding my children? Making them feel loved and safe?”

The Yukon, Oklahoma father went on to explain that there is only a small window of time that his children will want to sleep with their parents. And after that, he and his wife will have the bed to themselves for the rest of their lives.

“I just want to say that I am proud of the decisions my wife makes as a mom and I support every single one of them. I would never want to rob her of this time she has or these seasons that are in reality too short to not enjoy,” he wrote. “Please respect your wives as mothers.”
