An unnamed mother kicked her 8 year old son out of the house because he voted for Donald Trump in his classroom mock election.
A video of the incident, shot by the mother, has been removed from YouTube because it “violated community standards.” But Fox News anchor Steve Doocy posted a shortened version of the video on Twitter. The video was posted to a Facebook page: “Michelle Obama in 2020.”

KPRC-TV reported Friday that the woman, who can be heard yelling, even cursing, at the boy who is visibly upset, was interviewed by Fort Bend County’s Sheriff’s Office and Child Protective Services after she posted the video on her Facebook page.
“Since you voted for Trump, you can get your s—t and get out,” the woman is heard saying to the boy as she records the video on a cellphone. As of Friday the video had been shared more than 200,000 times, sparking outrage and demands that she be locked up. “Uh, uh, the suitcase is packed by the door.”
The boy bawls uncontrollably as he’s shown to the door with the suitcase and a handmade sign that says, “My mom kicked me out because I voted for Donald Trump.”
“Bye Donald Trump lover,” she is heard saying.
Later in the video the boy stands on the sidewalk with the signand tells the camera he voted for Trump because saw him a lot on TV.
The station reported that the video, which is nearly five minutes-long, was tough to watch, even tougher to understand. Neighbors who live on the woman’s block in the town of Fresno told the station the video left them angry and appalled.
Detective Joe Luera of the Fort Bend Sheriff’s Office told the station that as disturbing as the video is, investigators haven’t found evidence of a crime. He said the investigation was continuing.
Luera told another station, KTRK-TV, that he met the family and saw the boy who appeared to be in good health.
“She explains it was a joke,” he told the station.
There isn’t any better evidence for the idea that social media is destroying the country. This woman was so desperate to record a viral video that she psychologically abused her 8-year-old son to get it. This was not a joke. It was a pathetic attempt to draw attention to herself to satisfy some narcissistic urge.
And social media is the perfect vessel to make that urge a reality.
I can’t understand why children’s services didn’t take the boy from her care or why the sheriff didn’t arrest her on the spot. The child may not be enduring physical abuse, although looking at the video shows the mother kicking her son. Psychological abuse is even more damaging to a child. At the very least, children’s services should have removed the boy for observation and questioning to determine if he was damaged by the psychological abuse.
While they would be examining the child, they may want to put the mother on the couch. Anyone who thinks it funny to abuse a child needs her head examined.
