While being interviewed by The Hollywood Reporter for what would end up being a Vanity Fair-esque fluff piece, Cuomo decided to distinguish himself by taking an unprovoked blindside shot at the competition.

Perfectly illustrating the ignorant myopia that afflicts the biased coastal media bubble elites, Cuomo thinks that his immediate environment is the most important thing in the world:

“Anderson Cooper is a hell of a lot bigger than any male anywhere on network television,” he says. “I would argue that Chuck Todd ain’t Jake Tapper. Jake Tapper has a much bigger footprint in politics than Chuck Todd does.”

With a cable news power-watcher in the White House, he thinks that cable news is the place to be. Besides, he asks, “Who matters more than CNN?”

Those conclusions can only be arrived at by completely ignoring ratings, which still remain the objective standard by which television influence is measured.

Cable news ratings from this past Wednesday show Big Footprint Tapper being handily beaten by Neil Cavuto, and CNN powerhouse Anderson Cooper pulling in less than half the audience that Tucker Carlson does in the same time slot.

The dig on Chuck Todd is even more perplexing and nonsensical, especially in term of “footprints.”

Todd hosts “Meet the Press,” which is on network television. Network news ratings always dwarf cable ratings. Biased though it may be, “Meet the Press” has been the gold standard of Sunday news shows seemingly forever. It is currently enjoying a run of over a year atop the Sunday news show ratings.

Jake Tapper and his big footprint aren’t even included in the TVNewser recap of Sunday show ratings.

Chuck Todd doesn’t seem too worried about Cuomo’s fact-free delusions of grandeur. Mediaite has his response:

Todd had no idea what Cuomo was playing at, saying “I don’t know much about him, I’m not kidding. I have no idea where he’s coming from.” He also explained that he had no real history with Cuomo before the swipe.

Well played, Chuck.

Now let’s let Cuomo get back to his participation trophy, “Third place matters most!” nonsense.
