U.S. Sailors Detained by Iran Now Being Questioned

In this Oct. 26 2015, photo provided by the U.S. Navy, Riverine Command Boat (RCB) 802, assigned to Combined Task Group (CTG) 56.7, conducts patrol operations in the Persian Gulf. Iran was holding 10 U.S. Navy sailors and their two boats, similar to the one in this picture, on Jan. 12, 2016, after the boats had mechanical problems and drifted into Iranian waters. American officials have received assurances from Tehran that they will be returned safely and promptly. (Torrey W. Lee/U.S. Navy via AP)

Via CNN:

The 10 American sailors being held by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) are being questioned, state-owned Press TV said.

The TV report also said the sailors and U.S. forces “acted unprofessionally” after the sailors’ capture Tuesday.

Earlier, the state-run IRNA news agency said the sailors are “healthy and will be treated well.”

“Questioned” can obviously cover a wide a range of approaches, and the mention of the forces acting “unprofessionally” gives this an ominous twist.

In an effort to avoid letting reality interfere with the fairy tale President Obama was about to spin during the State of the Union address, Josh Earnest earlier told the press that the Iranians had assured U.S. officials that the sailors would be “allowed to continue their journey promptly”.

We should all feel very fortunate that our benevolent leader created that historic deal that ushered in a new era of cooperation between the United States and Iran. At this rate our old enemies should be such a problem that we won’t have time to think about any of the new ones.

See? He has a plan.
