Senator Cruz Rejoices Over Beto O'Rourke's Support for Anthem Protesters

Democratic Senate candidate Beto O’Rourke’s comment that “nothing is more American” than protesting the national anthem has gone viral and no one is happier than incumbent Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas).

Democrats far and wide are apparently unable to think of anything more American than a protest against the anthem because they are going gaga over the former folk singer. According to the Washington Examiner, Hollywood is absolutely ecstatic:

O’Rourke got retweets from Kevin Bacon, Mark Hamill, and Ricky Gervais. LeBron James called it a “must watch” and “salute[d]” the Texas Democrat for his “candid thoughtful words.” Ellen Degeneres reposted the video and said, “I would like to meet you, Beto O’Rourke.” Even Colin Kaepernick retweeted it.

The relief in these tweets is almost palpable. Here, finally, someone is justifying their disrespect by putting it in a patriotic context. Of course, traitors put their treasonous actions in a patriotic context as well, but don’t tell that to the far left. They’re on a roll.

Cruz, for his part, pointed out the obvious:

Cruz, on the other hand, can’t stop tweeting about it. “Beto raising big $$ from Hollywood by supporting NFL protests of the national anthem. But in Texas? Vast majority of Texans stand for the flag, honor our veterans, and support the brave men & women of law enforcement. People can protest without disrespecting the flag,” he said on Thursday, before posting several articles about O’Rourke’s comments.

It’s not likely that the race will be won or lost because of anthem protests, but it might be won or lost on the border. Texas Democrats can’t stop shooting themselves in the head on border security.

Washington Free Beacon:

Crossing the border illegally should no longer be a criminal matter, three Texas Democrats running for national office said over the weekend.

Senate candidate Rob O’Rourke, gubernatorial candidate Lupa Valdez, and House candidate Veronica Escobar all backed the proposal, the Huffington Post reports.

Illegally crossing the border is currently a criminal act under federal law, with an associated fine and maximum of six months jail time for the first offense. The Trump administration took advantage of this fact in its “zero tolerance” policy, which required U.S. Attorneys in the border states to charge every violator criminally, rather than waiving prosecution and immediately deporting.

To Escobar, who is expected to win a House seat in El Paso, the case for decriminalizing comes down to not treating immigration as a crime.

Every other sovereign nation on planet Earth treats crossing the border without proper authorization and remaining in the country illegally as a crime. If Beto (“Rob”) O’Rourke runs on a platform that includes decriminalizing illegal immigration, he will lose.

And then it won’t matter that he supports NFL players and their “patriotic” protests.
