Singer Will No Longer Use American Flag Visuals Because Trump Makes It 'Inappropriate'

Every time I think the anti-Trump hysteria is “just politics,” I read something like this, step back, and say “whoa.”

Singer Lana Del Rey says she will no longer use American flag visuals in her stage show because, with Donald Trump as president, she feels it would be “inappropriate.”

Read why she thinks that and you realize the effect of hysterical, anti-Trump exaggeration on the country.

Washington Times:

“It’s certainly uncomfortable,” said Ms. Del Rey, who plays Lollapalooza in Paris on Sunday. “I definitely changed my visuals on my tour videos. I’m not going to have the American flag waving while I’m singing ‘Born to Die.’ It’s not going to happen. I’d rather have static.

“It’s a transitional period, and I’m super aware of that,” she added. “I think it would be inappropriate to be in France with an American flag. It would feel weird to me now — it didn’t feel weird in 2013.”

Ms. Del Rey said she’s gotten much more vocal about politics lately because “things have shifted culturally” under Mr. Trump.

“It’s more appropriate now than under the Obama administration, where at least everyone I knew felt safe. It was a good time. We were on the up-and-up,” she said. “Women started to feel less safe under this administration instantly. What if they take away Planned Parenthood? What if we can’t get birth control? Now, when people ask me those questions, I feel a little differently.

“I feel less safe than I did when Obama was president,” she reiterated. “When you have a leader at the top of the pyramid who is casually being loud and funny about things like that, it’s brought up character defects in people who already have the propensity to be violent towards women. I saw it right away in L.A. Walking down the street, people would just say things to you that I had never heard.”

Certainly, a large part of this is breathtaking ignorance. How can a woman feel “less safe” if the government no longer funds Planned Parenthood to the tune of $500 million? It’s not like PP is going anywhere. Someone should assure Ms. Rey that even if PP were to lose their government money, they’d be back at it the next day, hard at work aborting babies and selling the body parts.

And where in the wide, wide world of sports did she ever get the idea that any woman, anywhere in the U.S. would not be able to get birth control? That’s beyond absurd. It’s shockingly ignorant.

More violence toward women? Maybe leftists attacking female Trump supporters, but domestic violence increasing under Trump? How does this sheltered, spoiled little brat know if that’s even true?

Ms. Rey is obviously not even a casual observer of politics. But she’s drunk the Kool-Aid being handed out by anti-Trump hysterics. She can use the American flag or not in her performances. Displaying it or not displaying it is not a measure of one’s patriotism.

But it’s difficult to believe she loves her country if she doesn’t even take the time or make the effort to even minimally inform herself of what’s happening in the U.S.
