“I’m tempted to move to Kentucky just to run against Mitch McConnell,” Takei tweeted on May 23.

Following his participation in the American Library Association’s annual conference on Monday, PJM asked Takei if he is going to run for Senate, but event organizers interrupted the interview before Takei could respond. However, Takei’s husband Brad Altman later said the Star Trek actor is not going to enter the Senate race in Kentucky against McConnell.

“He’s not running,” Mr. Altman said. “We’re not planning on moving to Kentucky.”

Takei was at the ALA conference for a panel discussion about his new book They Called Us Enemy.
