Iran has angrily responded to accusations from Israel and Saudi Arabia that it is destabilizing the Middle East. Tehran instead placed blame on the United States and its “client states” — referring to Israel and Saudi Arabia.
Recently, Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu rightfully blamed Iran for rising regional tensions, calling its regime “the greatest threat to the world.” He was joined by Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Adel Al Jubeir, who called for “fundamental change in the Iranian regime.”
Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammed Javad Zarif lashed out at Netanyahu and Al Jubeir, saying that Iran and Saudi Arabia are obsessed with his country. He also denied their accusation that Iran wishes to become a “hegemon” in the Middle East.
“The U.S. and its local clients in our region are suffering from the consequences of their own wrong choices,” said Zarif. He then accused them of trying to “revive the hysteria on Iran’s foreign policy” and trying “to obscure its realities.”
Of course, the minister has one minor problem: the entire world knows that Israel and Saudi Arabia are telling the truth.
Iran is a regional menace trying to create its own Shiite empire. Iran has never been bashful about this –domination has been Iran’s primary goal ever since Ayatollah Khomeini seized power in 1979. His successor, Ayatollah Khamenei, has continued these policies. Iran still has the same goals and dreams.
And that’s exactly why it is so important to make sure Iran never succeeds in developing nuclear weapons.
