Ted Cruz Goes to Bat for Jeff Sessions

Senator Ted Cruz is having none of it. The senator from Texas is fed up with the Democrats in Congress trying to prevent Jeff Sessions from becoming attorney general. That’s why he took to Facebook after speaking at Sessions’ hearing and continued to lambast Sessions’ critics:

I support Senator Sessions for attorney general for the very reason that many vehemently oppose him. Namely, I — and they — know that Sessions will enforce the law.

Cruz concluded:

The fact that this is controversial tells you all you need to know about the sorry intellectual state of our country’s elites, especially in the legal academy and federal bureaucracies.

The Left is going all-out against Sessions. Although he has a superb civil rights record, Democrats are systematically trying to portray him as an overt racist. Some protesters even dressed up as KKK members in order to smear him.

It’s despicable, but it’s sadly also what we’ve come to expect from the Left. Dare to resist the progressive agenda, and you’re attacked as a racist.

Thankfully, it looks like Republicans — the incoming Trump administration and Republicans in Congress — have finally grown a backbone with Cruz leading the pack. As long as Republicans follow his lead, Sessions will be confirmed regardless of the shameless strategies used by the Left.
