There He Goes Again: Biden Claims He and Obama Didn't 'Lock People Up in Cages' (Yes, They Did)

During the Democrat debate Thursday night, Jorge Ramos challenged Joe Biden on his immigration record, particularly his past support for a border wall, and the Obama-Biden administration’s record on deportations. “Why should Latinos trust you?” Ramos asked.

“What Latinos should look at is … comparing [Trump] to [Obama] is outrageous,” Biden said. “Number one, we didn’t lock up people up in cages, we didn’t separate families… we didn’t do all of those things.”

Umm, Joe… yes, you did.

Back in June, Barack Obama’s former ICE chief, Thomas Homan, acknowledged at a conference hosted by the Center for Immigration Studies, that the “cages” Democrats are blaming on Trump were the product of the Obama administration. “I’ve been to that facility, where they talk about cages. That facility was built under President Obama under (Homeland Security) Secretary Jeh Johnson. I was there because I was there when it was built,” Homan said.

Even the left-wing fact-checking site Snopes admitted that the Obama administration built these cages. “Images of children behind chain-link fencing were widely seen at a site in McAllen, Texas, that had been converted from a warehouse to an immigrant-detention facility in 2014,” they wrote. “Social media users who defended Trump’s immigration policies also shared a 2014 image of Obama’s Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson touring a facility in Nogales, Arizona, in 2014, in which the fencing could be seen surrounding migrants there, too.”

Here is one of those images with Jeh Johnson, Obama’s DHS secretary, touring one of those facilities, where you can plainly see, children, separated from their families, sleeping on the ground.

Democrats like Joe Biden have been repeating the lie that this was not something that happened under the Obama-Biden administration, but nothing they say can make it true. In July, Democrats on the House Oversight Committee even held a hearing on “Kids and Cages” and used a photo from 2014, when Joe Biden was vice president, to promote the hearing.

How much longer will Democrats lie about who built the cages? It’s getting old already.
