The second Democrat debate

I want to be straight with you and confess I didn’t watch it. I have a bad cold and thought it was best to just take some NyQuil and sleep rather than inflict this dumpster fire on my sick self. So, the winner of the debate was me.

But, I woke up and watched so I could spare you all from the same torture. As you observe these primary debates, and lordy we have another one tonight, keep in mind that the Democrat primary universe is not the general election universe. These wacky policies are not going to play in the general election. How will the chosen stooge walk this crap back once they have to address the public? Taking people’s health care away in favor of a Veterans Administration-like system run by the post office is not appealing ( 90% have healthcare coverage, by the way). The tax cuts, the ones the media has tricked people into thinking only went to the rich, will disappear along with your 401k invested in the stock market. The Green New Deal will cost a household $70K in the first year. But any argument against these policies is dismissed as Republican talking points. Do people hate Trump more than they want to see these crazy policies? I guess we will find out. Here is my summary:

Sanders/Warren represented the extreme nutter wing of the nutters. Decriminalizing illegal border crossings and taking away the healthcare of the 90% who have coverage are where they stand. Any attempt to argue against these positions was rebuffed with Bernie waving his arms. No surprises here.

John Delaney and Tim Ryan tried to argue with the Medicare for All crowd to no avail. “I wrote the damn bill!” Sanders quacked when Ryan challenged him on universal health care. Beto and Mayor Pete prefer a slow transition to a single-payer system, so basically they plan to just drive off the cliff slower. I just want to throw in here that healthcare is not a human right. You do not have a right to the labor and expertise of healthcare professionals. Thanks for playing.

Bullock, Delaney, and Hickenlooper were the moderates among the whacky pack, but they probably won’t be around much longer. I don’t think we will see them in the next debate. “I have actually got a track record as a small business owner, as a mayor, and as a governor,” Hickenlooper proclaimed. No one cares, dude, no one cares. It’s all about chocolate castles with marshmallow moats.

RACE, RACISM, RACIST. Nothing I can say is better than this fantastic compilation put together by The Daily Caller:

Beto and Buttigieg are most likely finished, along with the white guy moderates. One peculiar thing was Buttigieg telling people Jesus wants the minimum wage. Has he focused grouped this idea?

The shining light of the debate was the lovely Marianne Williamson, who spoke eloquently and pondered, “I wonder why you’re Democrats. You seem to think there’s something wrong with using the instruments of government to help people.” Marianne, I also ponder why people think there’s nothing wrong with using the instruments of government to hurt people and take away the fruits of their labor.
